Spanish Sub-Forum (NOW OPEN!)

I can't take credit for the idea as I saw "Arteaga" suggest it in a Spain thread.

I think it's a GREAT idea. You know there will be a continuing influx of spanish members, plus there are already a lot of Spanish speaking members on the site. Lots of Spanish visitors would be quicker to register if they saw a Spanish speaking sub forum or something to that effect.

Yeah, I figured with a LA fan base this has to have come up before. I think now more than ever it's popularity is a reality. You know there are a lot of spanish speaking lurkers right now.

I'm always willing to give anything a shot if it has the potential to be successful, but let's get some more reaction in this thread.

It's no offense to those who want it, but I just want to make sure it's popular enough to hold its own before we start consider it.

Another thing to consider is that it might be difficult to have staff moderate such a section. We probably would need a couple Spanish-speaking people to police that forum.

I'll admit that with the acquisition of Pau Gasol, we're strongly reconsidering this -- myself included.

Staff is going to discuss it over the coming week or so and we'll see what we can do.

I'm trying to obtain some official traffic facts on our hits from those who speak Spanish ... any more information you guys can give me will help.

Don't forget CL already has a large Hispanic population... if we do get a Spanish forum, we could definitely get some Spanish editors for CL. I don't think I have the time to write some editorials, but I could do some recruiting.

I've been reading the Grizzlies board off and on for a bit, since I've been interested in Gasol in a Lakers uniform for awhile. They have a forum for their Spanish speaking fans that has seemed to turn into a nice little community. They're actually debating on what to do right now. If to come here to Clublakers or to stay at the Grizzlies board. Seems a lot have become Grizzly fans, but a lot would also like to come here to Clublakers and follow Gasol and the Lakeshow. I'm sure a Spanish forum would be a great way to make them feel welcome.
