Daniels interested in Lakers

LA Daily News: With Larry Hughes opting Friday to leave Washington and sign with Cleveland, Antonio Daniels moved up one spot on the list of unsigned free-agent guards. And one of the teams at the top of Daniels' list of potential destinations will be the Lakers.

"It's intriguing to him," agent Tony Dutt said. "He likes the makeup of the team. Obviously, getting Phil back has a lot to do with it. We definitely like that situation."

Dutt said Daniels likely will make a decision about where to sign by the end of next week. He has heard from 15 teams, with the strongest interest coming from Cleveland, the Lakers, Miami, Utah and Toronto.

personally, i prefer watson. he's younger and a tad bit more athletic than daniels is, at their respective points in their career. and i also think watson has a bigger upside than daniels. still, either pickup would be an improvement over chucky.

Watson more athletic than Daniels? If you just talk about speed, yes. But what about the vertical, the body strength. You can say that Watson is more athletic than Daniels. :boxing1:

Daniels would win if there was a combine.

Damn that would be a huge MLE signing. last year we were raped with Vlade but this year finally we get someone who could get some stops and slow down the elite PGs.

I've seen watson play his entire career at UCLA.
He has some mad hops.
He looks unatheletic with his weird looking legs...
but he can flat out jump.

I prefer Dahntey Hall over Daniels but ehhh, Daniels is okay.

I never thought Hughes would leave Washington. I was always scared that Daniels would go to Cleveland.

Oh yeah. Hughes going to Cleveland really helps the Lakers pursuit of Daniels.

Great, I love AD. He's a winner, a champion. A true vet. What this team needs. Asides from the emotional and inspirational impact he has on any team, I think he's a great fit for L.A. He can distribute the ball and has an assist-turnover record as well as any guard in the league. I think we'll land him.

i think the only choice to make would be us and miami

utah just got deron so he is there pg for years to come
toronto is not going anywhere anytime soon, no reason to waste his time
cleaveland is a stong possibility but they want jaskiviscous or whatever

I think he'll end up with us cause he knows that if miami re-signs damon "I can't recall that name" jones, he'll most probably end up playing from the bench.

He wants to be a starter. He can be a starter here.

If he's interested in Utah, he's gonna have to split some time with the developing Deron Williams. Tough luck with Cleveland because he's a 1 and 2, so with Snow and Hughes, he's still gonna split some time. Toronto, he's splitting with probably a better guard in Rafer Alston. I think his best situation is with us, we're gonna be dependent on him, and there's enough talent on this roster for him to work with and become comfortable. He's gonna be well coached, and he's a great fit for Phil's type of offense. L.A. is the best place for him.

miami : went deep in the playoffs, good deep team, same money we offer, good area to live in, party a lot.

lakers: good fit, starter, phil jackson. rebuilding team, very young, can be a co leader.
