Herald-Zeitung: Horry interested in L.A.?

Postby ScoobySnackz on Sun Jul 27, 2008 3:52 pm

Robert Horry is taking the hands-off approach to free agency.

Horry became a free agent this spring when his contract with San Antonio expired after the Spurs were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs.

The 16-year veteran has since said he’s got at least a year left in the tank, and he wants to end his storied career — in which he’s captured seven NBA title rings — on a high note.

It’s just a matter of where.

Horry has said he’d like to remain with the Spurs. If the organization decides to move on, however, he said he’d like to return to Los Angeles or to Houston, where he began his career.

He can ride along for another championship for the minimum if he wants but I don't think we'd be able to rely on him to actually contribute much.

He didn't hit anything in the 2003 playoffs as well but look how he did the 2005 playoffs and so on..

I can't seem to decide here. Earlier I agreed in a separate that he was done.

However, I find myself contemplating this one. Might we be able to squeeze one more productive season out of the guy?

He'd be great in the locker room as well as a nice veteran presence on the bench.

Horry was also done in the 2003 playoffs right? its gonna be his last year so he will do anything to contribute in a positive way even if it doesn't mean hitting shots.

i think if we get josh smith no one better to learn how to be a clutch playoff performer from than horry

one thing you can accuse horry of is being a great locker room guy

we need that with ronny gone

I'd sign him just to come in to hip check Steve Nash everytime we play the Suns.

It will be great if Horry ended his career as a Laker.

Big Shot Rob wud be a good mentor to Space Ghost and LO.
The bench MOB would get smarter.
His intangibles are enuff for me to bring him back to LA.

Those Lakers/Suns matchups will be epic:

I'm considering either at this point. :man4:

Why? Assuming either would only play a handful of minutes Kwame could body up against other forwards/centers without falling down or committing a foul like Gasol, Odom, and previously Turiaf. Can Horry do that? I value defense more than offense considering what happened to our front line in the playoffs.

On a side note anyone know what's going on with Mourning? I'd love to get him for cheap.

I'm sure we all love Horry, but... why? Why would we sign him? For the locker room presence? Nah. The team is doing great in that respect anyway.

I'd rather have a true big, who is strong and can give us 10 solid minutes of defensive intensity. Zo? Sure.

Kwame? I'll live with it, for peanuts and 10 minutes a game... no problem.

Horry!? Why?
