No way it's happening. Lakers would rather resign Odom for less (or better yet, trade him for someone who is a better fit and makes less).

kobe would take a pay cut to play on that team

his image would benefit astronomically

which could put him over the top when discussing greatest players of all time

first people will say hopw unselfish of him all along he was about winning

the the championships that would roll in with that team would also help his image

winning 6 championships which is what that stacked team could accomplish would effectively solidify his image and career

I don't think Kobe would take a pay cut...nor has any other player done in their prime. Malone and Payton did it at the end of their carrers, Artest wouldn't settle for 2 Mil less with the chance to win and get a huge extension. Players don't do that...as much as froma fan perspective would would, it is a business to them, and they want money.

the most important thing to kobe at this point is his legacy

him taking a paycut doesn't matter due to his fat contract with nike which will only increase if/when he wins more titles

the symbolism of the paycut is unselfishness

taking a paycut would all but ensure his named being mentioned amongst both MJs wilt and kareem

when people looked back on these championship runs that would happen if he took a pay cut first thing they would say is it was all made possible because kobe cut his salary by 8 million or so

that would be huge for his image huge

NBA contract money means very little considering he would make way more with nike if rings started to roll in again

not to mention he would most likely only need to cut his salary down to about 13 million a year which is still not bordering the poverty line

deng may be a better defender but honestly we dont need a better personal defender, we need better team defense, better inside help, which hopefully bynum can bring, therefore making us a better team already, purely with size...
trading odom also may bring down morale with the team, the team made it so far as this unit, i really think we only need to make a couple of minor trades, NOT AN ODOM TRADE. we need to trade mihm and vlad (hes easier to trade than luke) for another PF/C (not that i know any that are available. if you agree do you have any suggestions?

why is Odom always involved in this conversation?

Lakers Staff has made it clear that with Gasol in, and Bynum coming back, they are going to try out that frontline of LO and Gasol and Bynum. LO isnt going anywhere, its what I been saying the past 2 years, he isnt leaving.

now, lakers need toughness, and rebounding, they would lose both if Odom was to go. Deng just brings scoring...... We have plenty of that. If anything I can see, Mihm, Luke, Vlad, Mbenga, all expandable.

Mitch really needs to get on the phone with every team to see who would be intrested in one of these 3 guys.

All is good with your trade idea, altough, it is hard to get done.
But, what the hell is wrong with you, to bring back Kwame Brown? I won't take him back, not for free, but, even if he is going to pay me back all of the money, he took from us.

Odom>>>>>Deng. Period

DON'T DO IT MITCH!!! :disagree:

I can see trading LO for Artest, maybe even Marion. But Deng? Just think, this time last year Deng was the centerpiece in the Kobe trade talks. :man10: Man would we have gotten robbed... :bang: What a difference a year makes! :jam2:

first off any kobe trade is a robbery unless chris paul, dwight howard, or lebron james is on his way back

even then its only equal

secondly deng can't shoot outside of midrange which is more than i can say for lamar

hes a great individual defender but he relies on post ups as much as lamar to score

hes not a great fit in the least bit

josh smith is a much better fit sam with artest and marion

deng would be an improvement but not what smith, artest, or marion would be

they aren't going to get one

their best hope is to get odom and make themselves a running team

gooden
odom
nocioni
hinrich
rose

that team could run

they need a post player lamar gives them that in fact he scores the bulk of his points through the post

First no way we give up Fisher. I mean there would just be a special place in heck if we did becuase reason he left mormon town is to get back in l.a for treatment for his daughter.

Second I would trade Odom for deng in a nanosecond. Granted I think overall it's a push but, Deng gives us the defense and scoring on the perimeter we need to go along with Kobe. Plus after kobe and pau is gone we can have a new dynamic duo with bynum/deng.
Strikemode14 is the greatest.

just throwing out ideas

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=

Bulls trade hinrich THomas and Noah. None of them are vital players

Charlotte sign and trades Okafor and Crash Wallace

Lakers trade LO/Vlad/Luke/ Farmar/ maybe Mihm

Charlotte gets LO/Vlad/Noah

Bulls get Okafor/ Farmar/Luke

Lakers get Wallace Tyrus Thomas and Hinrich

Charlotte gets screwed but they wanted LO last year and this sames them from getting nothing for Okafor and losing players to make the LO trade work. and Noah and Vlad help

LAKERS
Hinrich / Fisher
Kobe / Sasha
Wallace / Ariza
Pau / Tyrus Thomas
Bynum / Mihm

Bulls
Rose/Farmar
Hughes/Sefalosha
Deng/Luke
Okafor/Nocioni
Gooden/Gray

So wait i have a question lets say we do a sign and trade for Deng using Odom. My understanding is the lakers have to pay 13-14 million dollars a year for 4-5 years.

If this is true how in the hell can we afford to sign Bynum to a close to max contract in the future. So isn't this trade ridiculous becuase we couldn't even keep bynum if we do this trade.

THink about it

Kobe 20 mil
Gasol 14 mil
Bynum 12 mil
Deng 12 mil
Radmnovic 6 mil
Walton 5 mil

That 69 million for 6 players we would have a 95 million dollar payroll if we do this. That's never going to happen so everyone can forget it.

Look at Raef LaFrentz. 12 million for 65 points and 67 rebounds. Now thats bad.
