Lakers,Cavs,Heat interested in Sun's Stoudemire?

Next, in all likelihood, as Sarver seeks financial relief, Amare Stoudemire will be traded before Thursday's deadline . . . for a voluptuous expiring contract, no doubt, and a promising youngster or two.

It says here, the Cavaliers, Lakers and Heat are the lone teams who should seriously consider obtaining Stoudemire's sub-standard services. Sunday's All-Star start is a gift from an adoring, oblivious public. He'd have no problem deferring to LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade because their areas of expertise don't conflict with his, and they're genuine franchise players . . . whereas he pretends to be.

Last I looked, Stoudemire hasn't exactly proved capable of carrying an affluent team to ultimate glory.

Judging by what the Cavs have to offer - as mentioned, expiring contracts and talented youngbloods - and Kerr's connection and affection for Danny Ferry - I'm guessing it'll be Kevin McHale-Danny Ainge revisited . . . unless L.A. makes Lamar Odom available

Keep in mind Vecsey normally will only name teams he heard through inside sources that might be interested, not just his speculation. Also, the Lakers were interested in picking up Amare Stoudemire back when he was a free agent! Would you be interested in him for say Odom and some other pieces?

This has been brought up before and no. He has three years on his fat contract, the Lakers are already paying through the nose for Kobe, Pau and Bynum. When Bynum comes back he's going to start, maybe not this year but next, and where does that leave Stoudemire?

Odom provides some O and some D, while Amare provides mostly O.

In order to think "Amare" Lakers would have to rethink the team, in my opinion; And would be a tough sell. It would something like Pau stays at the C position & Lakers deal Drew to the east some how in a 3 way...

the only way I could think this could workout financially...

I don't think Amare would improve us. Yeah he can score, but scoring has never been our problem. Odom is a more versatile defender, better playmaker, and better rebounder.

Where would we play Amare when Drew gets back? Off the bench? I really don't see how this would work out, I'd rather have Odom right now.

as long as we have Pau and Drew, no. I know Amare loves Kobe. But there is not enough room for 3 big men like that. Look at Pau's numbers since Drew went down. And now adding a third??

that said, if we can KEEP Lamar, after this year, then no, don't want Amare. But if we can't sign Lamar next year for 10 mil or so (if he won't take a pay cut, which is likely, if he finishes the season like the last few games and the Lakers win the Championship), then MAYBE.

And that would not be to keep him, but to trade him. I like Pau's all around game in the triangle better. And drew has more upside on O and D. So, to not lose Lamar for NOTHING, I would get Amare.

Also, to prevent Cleveland from getting him. Seriously.

I think it would be interesting. He's a GREAT finisher and we have 3 playmakers in the starting line-up. Defensively and rebounding, yeah, I don't know. I can only pray the coaching staff could get through his thick head.

Of course this will never happen because we'd have 4 max guys.

Way to celebrate your return to CL with a terrible, terrible trade idea man.

I think it would work because I would play A'mare at the 3. Also, for defense, I remember him completely outplaying Duncan in the playoffs a few years back and being a defensive force. As I type this there is a picture of James Worthy on the screen and I could see A'mare being a slightly bigger version of big game.

Who do you trade though? I wish I could count on Odom. I'm not sure I can. But then again I don't know if I could trade him either.

^ Amar'e doesn't defend anyone. He is not even close to James, it's almost an insult to think of that. James great, a hustler, an attacker, a defender. One of the best. Amar'e? He's an athletic tall guy that loves to play offense. That's it.

At this point I'm not surprised. The Suns have been disappointed so far by the offers for Amar'e. If he's traded, it'll probably be on Thursday in a deal that wasn't quite expected.
