Lakers / Charlotte Deal?

Lakers / Charlotte Deal?

Postby JShow34 on Wed Jul 05, 2006 4:38 pm

I heard on Sirius Radio that the Lakers and Bobcats are talking about swapping players. The Lakers would be sending Chris Mihm and Brian Cook in exchange for pass first guard Brevin Knight and Matt Carroll.

I would love the deal. Knight is become less and less a part of Charlotte because of emerging star Raymond Felton. Knight not only is a top defensive player in the league, he is one of the best assist men. Matt Carroll is a 6'5 guard who is one of the best 3pt shooters in the league. All 4 playesr will be in the final year of their contracts.

Brevin Knight?

I think he's a good player, but we're already loaded at the PG position. Who's Matt Carroll?

PS- I thought Sky said that Bernie Bikerstaff doesn't want to deal with us anymore.

Those are 2 ok players from the Bobcats, B Knight being the much better one. But... he's short, I just can't see Phil wanting him. He wouldn't be able to defend if the Lakers got switched on pick and rolls like they did with Boris Diaw in the playoffs, they'd be as screwed as ever. Carrol is a good shooter and that's it, nothing else. I don't really see this as benefiting us, but who knows it is Mitch. Who said this on Sirius radio by the way, some random sports station or one with a good reputation?

Trade makes no sense for the Lakers. Carroll is a scrub.
And the Knight is not a Phil Jackson Guard.

That was a different era when Jackson used the big guards. Even when he used guys like Harper, Shaw, and D. Harper the league was more of a ball control offensive league. Fisher played a ton of minutes for PJax on our championship teams...how tall do you guys think he is?? Switching on Boris Diaw shouldn't be the Lakers #1 concern from the PG position. It should be guarding speedy West Pg's like Parker, Nash, Harris, Barbosa, Terry, Livingston, and Paul. Those are the top pg's from the top teams out west. If you saw what happened in the West playoffs, teams were getting killed with speed at the pg position.

Mihm is an bench asset. but Cook is nothing more than a 7 footer who plays like a slow 2 guard. Knight is the intelligent, game setter the Lakers offense needs and Carroll is the Paxson/Kerr/Buchelor guard that will consistantly make teams pay for doubling Kobe. Don't sleep on Carroll, dude tears up the NBDL and averaged almost 10ppg on a bad team the last two seasons.

Why not ask for Ely too and we'll throw in like McKie or someone....

Brevin knight is small, but is a smart veteran player, and the second best point guard regarding assist. He can defenetly find the open man. he can help players like kwame, vlad-rad, odom, have career years by giving them easy buckets . check this numbers out : brevin averaged 12.6 ppg 3.2 reb 8.8 ast and 2,3 stl. I think he would defenetly help this laker team win more ball games. The biggest question here is, Is this rumor fact or fiction?

I thought the Bobcats are kind of mad at us because they didn't like Rush. Anyways, I don't think Kobe likes Knight. Phil doesn't like his height. There are better people out there that we could trade for.

Brevin Knight

5' 10" 170

8.2 ppg , 6.8 apg, 2.7 rpg

I'm on the fence with this deal....I like Brevin's game, his speed, his D, he'll give us the quick defender for all the other quick PG's that seem to have career games whenever they play the Lakers (Nash, et al.)

Matt Carroll

6'6" and 38% from the 3. ....don't know much else about him.

Sky knows Bickerstaff? Wow, could you ask him where he buys his suits. Man, that is awesome -- somebody on this board knows a GM and all of his thoughts.

Hope it doesn't happen, a tall guy that can shoot rarely comes by, and we'd need atleast Ely. He could come of the bench..
