Lakers interested in Grant Hill?

Lakers interested in Grant Hill?

Postby Helljumper on Wed Jul 01, 2009 6:11 pm

"SF Grant Hill » He's 37, but played every game this past season. The choice is this: stay with Phoenix or go to a contender, such as Boston or the Lakers.

"Both are desperately trying to get him," said the source."

If we could get him for the veteran's minimum in addition to re-signing LO, Trevor, and Shannon, we'd be set. He could provide a lot of scoring off the bench that we missed last season while taking a lot of Luke's minutes and providing veteran experience. And keeping him away from the C's would be another advantage.

I want us to sign Kidd, but Hill is not a bad option.

If we are persuing Grant, what does that mean for Trevor?

I have been lobbying for Grant Hill for two years now. Hill gives us veteran presence with a basketball IQ that is on Kobe and Pau's level. We desparately need someone besides Kobe that can create his own shot, and more importantly shots for others. Hill can easily spell Ariza at the three or Kobe at the two, and actually give us production there, unlike Vujabrick. DO IT MITCH! NOW! :jam2:

He'd be great off the bench.

getting Hill would be a huge coup

he is a perfect fit for this team: unselfish player who can create for himself and others, hit the open jumper, play some D and provide steadiness and leadership

He would be a very, very good roation player off the bench. But what we're lacking in is perimeter shooting, and Hill is not a consistent outside shooter. For the veteran's minimum he would be awesome for us though. Great character, good locker room guy, and works hard everyday.

Not necessarily. Lakers going after Grant Hill could mean:

1) They actually want to sign Grant Hill

or

2) They are trying to gain leverage with the Ariza situation.

Either way, I'd love to have a veteran like Hill suit up for us. If we do lose ariza, Luke/Hill/Ammo would be more than enough at SF.

Plan for our starting small forward position (Luke is already penciled in for backup SF)

plan A- Sign Trevor Ariza
Plan B- Sign Ron Artest
Plan C- Sign Grant Hill

Hill/LO is better than losing LO b/c Ariza.

He'd be a nice pickup to take Luke's minutes.

We need Grant Hill REGARDLESS of the Ariza situation (Trevor will eventually sign with us). Imagine the court spacing with a lineup of Fish, Kobe, Hill, LO and Pau? At least 4 guys who are adept passers and scorers on the court at the same time= a nightmare for opposing teams.
