Lakers interested in Kurt Thomas

Lakers interested in Kurt Thomas

Postby The Maverick on Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:18 pm

Miami and the Los Angeles Lakers have expressed interest in Thomas, though the Spurs could offer more money than either of those teams. In all likelihood, the Lakers would partake in the hunt for Thomas only if their bid to retain Ronny Turiaf falls short.

even with Ronny I'd think Kurt is one of those players/vets that can put us over the top...like Brown in Boston.

He'd be an excellent fit and his game is perect for the triangle and for what his role would be

I don't see how Ronny coming back or not has anything to do with this.. As of right now our backup C is Chris Mihm.. Ronny is 6'9 & does nothing but foul. We need ATLEAST 1 more big, in addition to Ronny

I love how this guy spreads the floor and is money with that outside shot & although fairly old, he brings some smart kinda toughness.

The guy is tough,a veteran, smart and can still knock down the mid range J. Ronny or not....he should be added to this team next year.

well you know chicano, pj brown is a 4 years older than kurt and look what he did for boston (and actually what kurt did against us in the finals, he wasnt half bad), hopefully his play lasts as long as pj's if we sign him

^ Yeah and honestly, I was always surprised at how Pop didn't use him MORE against us cuz based on what I saw, when he was in there, he seemed to be a plus rather than a minus, but I was more than happy he kept it that way obviously.

He is done in my estimation.

He is 36 years old and while SA was getting burned, Pop didn't play him and prefered Oberto who is a bonafide scrub.

You have to ask yourself, why is that?

The same reason Phil preferred Luke Walton over Ariza or Newble.

^ Agreed. Coaching mistakes imo. Even the greatest of coaches like those two make em' from time to time unfortunately in our case.

kb, who played better against us in that series, oberto or thomas? IMO im pretty sure it was kurt even with those limited minutes ... plus i dont really think he fit in that system since he was only there for less than a year

I mean he will be a decent signing like PJ Brown

He can come in especially during play-offs get some key mins guarding Duncan, KG or other big men when our other players ae in foul trouble and just like PJ Brown once in a while have his impact felt.

He would be a good signing. He's dirty, that's what I like about him. We need a rough and tough dirty player on our team. I think we should sign him even if Ronny Turiaf signs.

I bet you he would love to play for a team like us.
