Lakers interested in trade for Marion?

Lakers interested in trade for Marion?

Postby ADT on Tue Jan 06, 2009 5:22 pm

Chad Ford believes Lakers would be open to trade Oom for Marion. I have my doubts, but Ford chimes in from his CHAT.

Lakers would still be open to a trade for Lamar Odom. Shawn Marion can be had. I could keep going, but those are the guys I could see all moved by the trade deadline.

I just don't see this trade. Can Marion master the tri well enough to make an impact before the end of the season? Can Marion shut up about his contract extension long enough to show up and play? Would Buss commit to paying the extra lux tax when the championship hasn't been won yet? I still think they let Lamar walk unless he resigns for a lot less money. Remember Bynum's extension kicks in next year as does Ariza's new contract, among other contract matters...
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I just read the transcript and Ford does not say that the Lakers are open to trade Odom for Marion. Ford is merely listing players that may be traded before the deadline. Ford lists players for the Thunder, Bobcats, Clippers, etc.

It won't happen.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Agree. As much as I'd like to see Lamar moved, especially for Marion, it's not gonna happen. Lakers have the best record in the league and have every reason to believe they're going to the Finals and should be able to win it all. Why disrupt that?

I thing I like about Lamar is he is so selfless of a player. He also doesn't mind playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle. You don't find too many people in this league who are as talented as Odom without the huge ego. I opt for keeping Odom over the over inflated ego of Marion(who has one of the worst releases on his shot in the NBA)

IF YOU ACTUALLY READ THE POST FROM CHAD FORD, HE IS NOT SPECULATING ON AN ODOM FOR MARION DEAL

HE IS SPECULATING THAT BOTH ODOM AND MARION ARE AVALIBLE FOR OTHER TEAMS
