Lakers #1 priority, resign both ariza and odom.
If they can't sign at the price they want, they will do the following

1) If Ariza dont resign, they will go hard after Artest
2) If odom dont resign they will go hard in a sign and trade for Marion

So, you will get the following combo next year and the following is my ranking of what i wish would happen

1) Artest and Odom
2) Ariza and Odom
3) Artest and Marion
4) Ariza and Marion

After that is done,

Lakers will no matter what resign Shannon Brown, unless they get a blow out offer from another team which they will not match.
But Lakers sent a qualifying offer, so they can match any offer offered to shannon brown.

After they do that,

they will try to trade the following package

Farmar and Morrison for a future PG to replace Fisher after he retires after this upcoming season. (think Andre Miller, Mike Bibby type of player)
After Fisher retires, you still have your andre miller type of poing guard with a shannon brown that will be more than ready to be a solid backup pg.

This is im sure mitch's plan.
Now its up to him to actually do it. Hope he comes thru.

according to my calculations ( in a nerdy way )...this sounds good great!

matrix odom and ron ron in the same team? that position would be to crowded with ball hoggers. i rather get hill, cheaper and doesnt mind playing his part coming off the bench....

If Mitch pulled off Trix for Trev and signed LO, Id rather spend the MLE on a Guard with handles and defense. A quick G who can D up is needed badly. Nelson, those HOU guards, Devon, all of then had their way with LAL guards.

His style of play seems to fit within our system. An off-the-ball player than can spot up for 3s, play solid D, tip in shots, run the floor well...

We can afford to lose Ariza if we can get Marion. An Odom/Marion combo would be great. Artest is too unpredictable.

Unfortunately, Marion probably feels like he deserves more money than Ariza, so it'll be a long shot.

I agree with everything you said and would like to add that Marion could hit a 15-18 footer. You are right, if we lose Ariza, we could add Marion and be as good off or better.

And IMHO, Marion is a better fit with the Lakers than Ron Artest. I think the on court chemistry would be better.

Marion is good. He can do everything Ariza can do, plus score garbage points and rebound much better. I'm fine with Trevor, Matrix, Artest.... they are all good for this system and can play D.

Shannon Brown not good enough for defense? Brown is cheap and effective. Triangle doesn't really need a traditional pg, just one that can hit open shots and can defend which is what Brown can provide. No pg can stop opposing pg's, they just can slow them down to prevent the defense from breaking down.

Marion is a good fit should Odom or Ariza leaves and Artest rejects the Lakers. Mitch has to think of contigency plans always. A good GM always has one. Grant Hill would also be a great addition to stabilize the bench.

i'm sorry, marion's been renounced by toronto as far as they are showing signs of pursuing some all-star caliber players like hedo.

no sign-and-trade could happen to him. holding his bird right wont give them cap space to do any free agent talkings.

skill-wise i'd say ariza is poor man's marion. but i don't want to deal with the ego. i'd rather deal with a headcase than an overinflated ego. but if we cant get either ariza/artest, then marion would do nicely, assuming we can get him for same price as we'd pay other 2.
