The Lakers are searching for more frontcourt help and may target Donyell Marshall and Theo Ratliff during the offseason, according to the Los Angeles Times. Ratliff could be released by the Blazers under the league's one-time buyout clause.

Which would u rather? Post what u think the lakers starting lineup will be

In Ratliff we get a helluva rebounder and inside presence. But with Marshall we get a legit 3rd option at the 4. But if your gonna sign one, Ratliff. Marshall isn't worth 5 mil. in the West unless he plays some 3.

Theo Ratiliff would be a great pickup..hows his health though hes been injured alot...Id love to have him. Great shotblocker. Our frontcourt would be sick

I wouldn't take Ratliff or Marshall but if we do pick someone, Theo Ratliff is a much better fit for the lakers. Lakers had no inside presence last year, and getting Marshall wouldn't help us there at all. We have scoring we need defense.

What about both??? Sign Theo and then sign and trade for Marshall??? Might be a little farfetched but hey anything is possible...but if/since this isn't possible...I'd go with Marshall just because I have seen him play in Utah and everything so I've seen his style of play...plus he tied the 3 pt record with Kobe so...

If both:

Theo
Mihm/Bynum

If just Marshall:

Chuchy?

Lakers cant get Daniels and get Swift or Marshall too, they dont have the money. Daniels will probably get offered more than the MLE anyway. :man7: But hey we can only hope, right? :jam2:

antonio daniels and earl watson are most realistic for point. jalen rose (amnesty FA?) or marco jaric (restricted FA) may work out too...
and
theo ratliff (amnesty FA?) i'd much rather go after for a defensive pf and start mihm or vlade at center.

you still got bynum, turiaf, grant off the bench.

more offense (something we have plenty of) or defense (something we had zero of last year)...I choose defense, meaning Theo.

Phil can have his 3 center rotation that he liked, when he ran a guard geared triangle.

Theo without thinking. Its a no-brainer.
Marshall is just a tougher version of Cook. I HATE BIGMAN THAT PREFER TO SHOOT THREES. Its just a sucky and soft bigman mentality.

I actually think that is one of the pieces that Phil Jackson is looking for -- either versions of Tony Kukoc and Dennis Rodman. I believe he is in the process of recreating the old Chicago Bulls roster:

Starters:
PG: Butler or Rose* = Harper(?)
SG: Bryant = MJ
SF: Odom = Pippen
PF: Turiaf, Marshall* or Griffin* = Rodman(?)
C: Mihm = Longley(?)

Bench:
F: Jones, Griffin* or Marshall* = Kukoc(?)
C: Bynum or K.Brown* = H.Grant(?)

i'd say we take ratlif ahead of marshall, but if vlade divac will be in top form then i'd say we try to get daniels and put vlade at the startin lineup. if we do that the triangle would work perfectly.

Sounds like they are saying Divac is a longshot, but they have put off a decision now on him till almost training camp. Isn't Marchall kind of a Horry type of player? Can he D up?
Think Horry wants to come back for the MLE???

NO MARSHALL, IF THE LAKERS SIGN HIM GEORGE, JONES, & WALTON WILL GET NO PLAYING TIME & THEY CAN SUPRISINGLY HAVE A GOOD GAME ON OCCASIONS. RATLIFF GREAT TO COME OFF THE BENCH FOR TURAIF, COME IN BLOCK SHOTS, REBOUND ON OFFENSE & DEFENSE. ALSO A GOOD BACK UP FOR BYNUM OR MIHM OR DIVAC. THERE GOES A THIRD PIECE TO A DEFENSE WITH BYNUM & TURAIF COMING IN WITH SOME GOOD DEFENSE. MARSHALL WILL JUST TAKE UP ROOM AND WON'T EVEN WORK OUT. GO FOR RATLIFF, & PICK UP A GUARD.
