Newday: Odom a perfect fit in NY? Lakers keeping him?

Newday: Odom a perfect fit in NY? Lakers keeping him?

Postby JSM on Thu Oct 16, 2008 1:19 pm

Alan Hahn of Newsday wrote:Many around the NBA are monitoring the curious situation brewing with the Lakers between Lamar Odom and Phil Jackson. Potential suitors for the versatile though enigmatic Odom already are being handicapped, with the Knicks high on that list. But several team executives around the league believe the Lakers have little interest in moving Odom and Odom has little interest in leaving Los Angeles. The New York native's skills would be a perfect match in the D'Antoni system, but it is an unlikely scenario.

I think we'll have to listen to this stuff all year until it is solved one way or another.

Jamal Crawford would be a nice project for Kobe to develop.

If Crawford had a Ron Harper type transformation in his game, he would be a fine triangle PG, but Crawford hated the triangle in Chicago but didn't have a good team either. Any deals with NY would need to be a 3 way

first off, it's not even possible. that's a 1 for 3 trade, so we'd have more than 15 guys on the roster. can't happen. second, we're destroying teams right now and Lamar is a big part of the dominance of our 2nd unit, why mess with that now?

Karl isn't on this team anymore.

and no, Chandler and Lee would not be better. Chandler clogs our SF position even more and Lee is redundant behind Gasol and Bynum. the reason Odom works to fill out the 3-headed monster is because of his versatility. Lee is a nice player but without that versatility it significantly changes the dynamic of our 2nd unit.

I only can see a trade with NY if a third team (as Detroit) is involved.

NY: Getting Odom and Walton
Detroit: Getting Randolph or Eddy Curry and David Lee
Lakers: Getting Tayshaun Prince and other player (it seems difficult to be Crawford included)

But it is only an opinion.

it would be a very good trade because they are a lot younger and they give more effort then odom

None of those guys are on our team anymore man. This one's done, NY has nothing to offer us.

listen to Wallangong, our team works well right now, this forum shouldn't even be active.

I don't think anyone from the Knicks will fit in the Lakers' triangle. I'll pass.

No one on the Knicks squad belongs on this Lakers team.

Odom doesn't belong on a team other than the Lakers.

So agree here, at first I was one of the skeptics about LO coming off the bench. But the second unit is so potent and fun to watch now. LO coming off the bench is exactly what we needed in the second unit, now we can sustain leads or even improve upon them. As for the starting line-up, I'd still like to see Ariza out there but I realize that other teams respect Vlade's outside shot and have to stay honest with him on the court (unlike Ariza).
