RUMOR: Odom and Kwame for KG on ESPN radio

Postby GCMD on Fri Nov 03, 2006 5:02 am

Don't worry Fab. If this was going to happen, you'd hear about it AFTER they'd agreed upon it, not before.

LAL wants another big name and KG would be at the top of that list. But as of right now, "wanting" him gets them no closer to ACQUIRING him than any other team in the league.

Will MINN bite? Doubt it.

Just to play devil's advocate:

Isn't it curious that Kwame hasn't been allowed to get back on the court after his poor showing in preseason? It's like they are going to give him a chance to re-injury himself OR to play any worse...

Letting BYNUM start? After Kwame played so well at the end of last season? And with no other legit backup C? And Kwame being day-to-day?

Either they are being cautious or...

Smart money is on cautious.
Feel free to ignore anything I say...

Buss just said in an interview that he wants to add a star to a Kobe/Lamar Laker team. I dont think he's even interested in this trade right now.

Buy Low (KG): Sell High (Lamar, Kwame)

I'd do this trade in a heartbeat. Not only do we land a superstar, but we drop two large contracts in the meantime.

It puts the team, IMO, in much better position to re-build in the future, as well.

Go Lakers!

Kobe and Odom are apparently closer than ever. You think the management and Kobe is conspiring against him? :man10:

It's not going to happen, and honestly I wouldn't like the trade. Our team chemistry right now is great. Kwame's developing and Odom is playing aggressively. In 2-3 years, if we still have Odom and Kwame (which we should) we'd have a better team than one with Kevin Garnett.

Yeah, Kobe and Odom, the supposed new brothers are going to be broken apart because Kobe is sitting out in a conspiracy to show Odom off to Minny. Riiiight.....
Sounds like more BSPN crap to me, totally shocking they'd make up a story portraying Kobe in a negative light like this, that's never happened before.

i wouldnt do it. kwame will probably still be out starting center, even though bynum has proven that he is better. even if kwame doesnt start, he still gives us an athletic young big that can board and play D, which many teams die for. odom WILL be an all star this season. a 20 pt season isnt out of the question. plus since odom can play SF, our young bigs can develop and get PT (bynum, turiaf, brown)

plus, if KG comes, we would probably have a bad season because of chemistry issues. it would take about a whole season to develop chemistry with a virtually new team.

minnesota would rape us in this trade, IMO

I wouldn't do i for the simple fact that Odom is just turning 27 on Tuesday and Kwame is turning 25 in August. I don't thnk Mihm will be the same and Andrew would be our only center. K.G. is turning 31 in May, wasn't at training camp and would need to learn the offense the Odom and Kwame now have a year of experience with. Maybe K.G. will opt out and we can pick him up for the MLE next year

Farmar/Sasha
Kobe/Evans
Odom/Radman/Walton
K.G./Cook/Turiaf
Bynum/Kwame
"Baron Davis is a good friend of mine, Carlos Boozer is a good friend of mine, Ron Artest is someone I've known since I was a kid … those are guys we could've gotten," Bryant said. "For whatever reason, it didn't happen."

Can anyone confirm what year KG can opt out of his contract? if it's really next season, and if KG really wants to come to L.A., he'll opt out next year and sign for the MLE.
