Anthony Morrow Breaks Summer League Scoring Record

Anthony Morrow Breaks Summer League Scoring Record

Postby ShaqDieselLaker on Thu Jul 16, 2009 8:39 pm

So much for Anthony Randolph's record of 42 Summer League points. With the Warriors forward sitting out Golden State's final Summer League game, the other Anthony -- stepped in and topped his teammate's 48-hour old record with 47 points. Anthony Morrow shot 18-for-26 from the field, including 7-for-9 from beyond the arc.

Morrow put on a shooting clinic in Cox Pavilion, draining his first seven shots in the first quarter. The Hornets' Marcus Thornton was assigned to Morrow and, believe it or not, did a decent job as a lock-and-trail man, chasing his man around screens, and contested almost every shot.

Didn't matter. Morrow's quick release and unconsciousness rendered poor Thornton irrelevant.

Morrow is a good shooter, but he chilled considerably as the season progressed.

^Totally agree. That team is a much superior team. They should be a playoff team. They have all the talent to a top 5 team in the west but Nelson's style isn't going to take them anywhere.

With Randolph, Morrow, and their hug batch of talented players, I hope Nelson stays and continues to ruin their chances of being a true challenger for us.

Not sure where his PT is going to come from when Curry and Monta is going to demand to be on the floor. He reminds me of Smush, but way better skills of course. He can definitely get hot.

I got an email a few days ago from my friend who lives in Las Vegas and has attended nearly every Summer League game in the past two years. He commented that Morrow has one of the sweetest, most accurate Js he's seen in a very long time. And his comment came before Morrow put up 47. Apparently Morrow has no problem creating his own shot. Perhaps a great player to have to spread the floor (hint, hint.) Seriously, though, the guy just needs more minutes, the way that Wafer did.
