BDG's SPL Exclusive: Lakers vs. Mavericks [7/9/06]

Postby JSM on Sun Jul 09, 2006 3:39 pm

Any summer league team with Yuta Tabuse and Jelani McCoy is utter trash. Glad we got the W though.

Pinnock-11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block. 1 assist 5-9 from the floor
Slaughter-8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3-3 from the floor
Huge game by Bynum
Wafer-18 points, 3 steals
Farmar-13 points, 6 assists, 4 steals, 3 TOs
Green-12 points, 5 rebounds
Douthit-10 rebounds

bynum looks 100% better than last year...he doesn't look as awkward any more...he still needs work on his timing when he jumps... he could have gotten 20 boards if he would have time his jumps right....they doubled him the whole 3rd quarter and he made good passes out of the double...farmer make very good.. desicions he has a good floater in the key and he has great instinct on when to make the pass on the break....oh yeah and wafer still doesn't pass the ball

Two guys I'm very curious about:

Marcus Douthit
Danilo Pinnock

Has anyone seen them play? I read Marcus plays in Europe but I couldn't find any information on the net. I'm curious to know what kind of stats he puts up and against what kind of competition.

Danilo sounds very interesting. Sort of like Von Wafer, someone who could perhaps be a firery bench scorer if given time to develop. If neither one makes the team, I'd like to see them sign to the Lakers DL team and learn the triangle

Anyone know more about these guys?

i think they sould pick up marcus also...even though he only had 4 points today he was still hustlin on the boards and contesting shots... with bynum being the focus on offense he didn't have many chances to score

we cant even pick up 1 player. No roster spots. Unless we make some deals to clear some rosyter spots or cut players like Mckie.

Expect a report on the game in the coming hours. :man1:

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

What makes you say that? He had a very good SPL last year, only to perform like garbage when given the chance at the pro level.

It's hard to perform consistently when you're not given consistent minutes. Wafer won't be a star or anything, but had he been on the Bobcats or something, he'd make his way as an NBA regular.

Not to always be a downer when it comes to Bynum's progress (although the statline was outstanding today), the starting center for the other team was Jelani McCoy, who stands at 6'10. Bynum definitely dominated him, but he was supposed to.

When Bynum plays that 7'0 monster Greek center against the Grizzlies on Tuesday in a revenge game, you'll see if he's really progressed as a potential backup to Kwame. If he gets a double-double against that guy, I'll be more confident.

Bynum had a very good game in the 2nd game, as opposed to the first which appeared disappointing.

The only negative in Bynum's effort was the 5-12 shooting and the 4 turnovers. For a bigman that's too low a FG%. In fact it was one of the worst on the team today.

I think just from the box score, Farmer's numbers look the most impressive. High FG%, scoring and passing...

Wafer isn't going to be in the NBA for much longer.

Kareem Rush couldn't even do that, and wafer isn't near rush's inability...lol.

What was Wafer's NBDL FG%? Was it 34%? That number might be high.

jacking up more shots than anyone doesn't mean you belong in the NBA.
