Derrick Byars

Derrick Byars

Postby Lakers8899 on Wed Jul 11, 2007 7:03 pm

I've been watching Derrick Byars for awhile now, and I must say, he looks a lot more ready than I thought. The thing you notice about him is that he's big and can move defensively, very much like Ron Artest. I haven't seen him handle the ball yet, but according to the scouting report, he's an excellent ball-handler.

He looks like he can contribute already. What hurts is that he plays SF, a position that we really need too. Maybe we really made a mistake.

Ask me and BDG what we think about Byars....

Would have loved having him over Yue.

It's all about the intangibles...

He scored his first basket today and grabbed a rebound. All in just 12 minutes of play. And that left to right release on his jumper. Unorthodox to say the least, but Larry Bird had an awkward release, too. Based on first appearance, he's a combo of Bird AND Artest.

I'm here in Vegas, having only watched him for a few minutes, my first thought is his ball-handling is weak. He was dribbling like Kwame in the open court. But he has an NBA body and plays rugged D. We'll see, but my first impression was that he has brick hands.

Based on his first apprearance from what I saw, he has no speed at all, his defense is crap, he can't hit a shot. He'll be useless in the NBA. He his 1 shot in all 3 games. He sucks.

Bird and Artest? Cry me a river :man10: :man10: :man10:

Just because you hate the Yue pick, doesn't mean you have to start comparing a scrub to bird and artest.

Based on first appearance, I think you're a genius...

My bad :man10: It's hard to detect sarcasm over the net

because there have seriously been people here acting like he's the next artest and next DPOY. That's why I thought you were serious because that's what they really think!
