Nice. Impressed that we got Davon Jefferson for our summer league team. He arguably would've been either #1 or #2 in my top undrafted players list for 2008 (the other, Jamont Gordon, signed to play with the Sixers). I remember a while back we had Rodney White on our summer league team, and he was an athletic specimen but a space cadet. Jefferson's sort of like White, down to the lax work ethic, but I think he has slightly better athleticism. Hopefully he can resurrect his career with us, or hopefully we can somehow retain his rights and keep him in Europe. I know we are brimming with SFs but Davon's too intriguing a player to pass up at least at this stage.
Stocking with Bruins too--Cedric Bozeman and Lorenzo Mata-Real are on the team; Mata-Real never had a real shot to be drafted as a poor man's version of Joey Dorsey, and we don't even know if Dorsey has a real shot in this league considering his relatively undersized height and his lack of offense. But hustle players are always nice to have on a summer league roster. Bozeman is a has-been--just summer league filler. Tall point guard who shoots free throws like Shaq, and lacks a jumpshot which nullifies any passing talents he has--a bust at UCLA.
Marcelus Kemp is a thoroughbred sort of athlete and a scorer first and foremost--has surprising passing ability, but at the end of the day he's just another 6'4" tweener sort of scoring guard that are commonplace in the league. He may have a slight chance, but doubt it.
Yi Li sounds interesting...like maintaining our local connections with UCLA and USC, we are also getting Chinese players (connecting with Sun Yue ?).
Of course, can't wait to see how our draft pick Joe Crawford performs. I think he's almost a clone of Marcelus Kemp, down to the scoring reputation-first shooter reputation-second, as both are also undersized two-guards. I like Crawford better becomes he seems more refined, but we'll see how it goes.
