Kemp and Crawford are the only two names there that even interest me remotely.

They'll battle with Coby for a roster spot at the end of the bench.

I'm a basketball fan before anything. I'm excited to see we are reaching out and getting talent from china. China is untapped. They have a point gaurd out there that is lighting quick, has great handles, good court vision and has a more physical western game. Chen Jianghua. He supposedly is still young and won't probally be on the scene until 2 years.

BOZEMAN! JEFFERSON! MATA! YI LI! CARL!this has to be one of the most exciting laker summer teams in a while. The summer with Farmar and Smush was great to watch as well.

I'm freaking excited. First you got the summer league and then the Olympics! Basketball at it's best right now. No crap refs. Real talent. No american bias. Just good basketball from around the world.

I found one story saying Yi Li is 6-3 PG and another one said he is 6-11 beanpole PF. Who knows? JSM is much better than me at digging this stuff up and I will turn it over to him.

Two most official sites I could find:

http://sports.sina.com.cn/cba/team/jiangsu/index.shtml
According to this team site, he was 2.04 meters during the 05-06 season.

http://www.asia-basket.com/player.asp?Cntry=CHN&PlayerID=50206
They say he's 204cm.

Nice. Impressed that we got Davon Jefferson for our summer league team. He arguably would've been either #1 or #2 in my top undrafted players list for 2008 (the other, Jamont Gordon, signed to play with the Sixers). I remember a while back we had Rodney White on our summer league team, and he was an athletic specimen but a space cadet. Jefferson's sort of like White, down to the lax work ethic, but I think he has slightly better athleticism. Hopefully he can resurrect his career with us, or hopefully we can somehow retain his rights and keep him in Europe. I know we are brimming with SFs but Davon's too intriguing a player to pass up at least at this stage.

Stocking with Bruins too--Cedric Bozeman and Lorenzo Mata-Real are on the team; Mata-Real never had a real shot to be drafted as a poor man's version of Joey Dorsey, and we don't even know if Dorsey has a real shot in this league considering his relatively undersized height and his lack of offense. But hustle players are always nice to have on a summer league roster. Bozeman is a has-been--just summer league filler. Tall point guard who shoots free throws like Shaq, and lacks a jumpshot which nullifies any passing talents he has--a bust at UCLA.

Marcelus Kemp is a thoroughbred sort of athlete and a scorer first and foremost--has surprising passing ability, but at the end of the day he's just another 6'4" tweener sort of scoring guard that are commonplace in the league. He may have a slight chance, but doubt it.

Yi Li sounds interesting...like maintaining our local connections with UCLA and USC, we are also getting Chinese players (connecting with Sun Yue ?).

Of course, can't wait to see how our draft pick Joe Crawford performs. I think he's almost a clone of Marcelus Kemp, down to the scoring reputation-first shooter reputation-second, as both are also undersized two-guards. I like Crawford better becomes he seems more refined, but we'll see how it goes.

looks like a young master P , but I know it's not , just looks like him. haha. I can't wait for the vegas summer league.

Yi Li is a 6'9 twig forced to play out of position at the PF position. He think his best fit is at SG/SF.

China has a lot of players. A lot of them are becoming more agressive as well. Theres a high school freshman in San Diego that came from China... He's 6'7 at 250. They guy is thick but has a nice frame that will grow and he should fill it out well. Word is that UCLA is already offering him a scholarship.

Crazyfan that article was written about 4-5 years ago.. He has supposedly grown since then. As I said I read several articles listing him 6-9 and one even called him a 6-11 beanpole. The best I can tell he is 6-9 204

Oh c'mon, I wouldn't go that far. I always have league pass for the record and I just enjoy to see other teams outside of the Lakers as well. Certain players call my attention. I happened to see Eric Gordon in his college ball days and he's quite an exciting guy to watch and yes, I'm a B-Diddy fan as well, but make no mistake about it, in no way, shape or form, am I a "hard" Clipper fan.. lol..
Lakers are my only hardcore of any team in any sport.. forever & ever.. for all eternity. :jam2:

Yi Li is too common a Chinese name. But this guy is 6'9, 20 years old (officially), very athletic, extremely skinny.

Ranked No.5 by nbadraft.net in the Adidas camp a few years ago, ahead guys drafted in this year, like Robin Lopez. Beasley was No.1.

Some clips on Yi Li,

All I can say about Mata is I'm surprised he's pursuing pro ball. Seems to me like a guy that should have found a career in college cause he's not gonna make it in the NBA. Same with Bozeman, I like the guy a lot cause I'm a UCLA fan and pre-injury he could have been better, but last I saw him he wasnt' good enough.

Yi Li plays for my hometown team. He is a 6-9 foward. Very very athletic, great leaping skill. Very thin, and got pushed around in the paint a lot. Good speed, and great quickness. Skillwise, he can do amost everything, but is not good at most of them. He is not a good shooter, but he is working on it.

That pretty much sums him up... I'm not a big fan of him. In our team, there is a PG called Han Shuo, and I think he is a lot like Jose Calderon. He and Sun Yue are my favorate players in China.

Oh, and there is a 6-4 Japanese guard on the Lakers summer league roster, too. His name is SAKURAI Ryota. I don' know anything about him....
