OC Register Blog: Minutes before the Lakers’ summer league team was scheduled to scrimmage their counterparts from the Clippers, there remained some paring down that still needed to be done on the Lakers’ roster.

Twenty players participated in the morning practice but that list was expected to be cut down to 12 by the time the scrimmage was scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Here is the list of players and their NBA experience:

G Cedric Bozeman UCLA 1 year

F Pat Calathes St. Josephs rookie

G Joe Crawford Kentucky rookie

F Bryant Dunston Fordham rookie

F Taj Gray Oklahoma rookie

C James Hughes Northern Illinois rookie

F Davon Jefferson USC rookie

G Coby Karl Boise State 1 year

G Marcelus Kemp Nevada rookie

F Lorenzo Mata-Real UCLA rookie

F Nik Caner-Medley Maryland rookie

F Yi Li China rookie

G Dwayne Mitchell La Lafayette rookie

G Brian Roberts Dayton rookie

C Michael Southhall La Lafayette rookie

G Quinton Thomas North Carolina rookie

G-F James White Cincinnati 1 year

G Martin Zeno Texas Tech rookie

So we should have the final 12 listed a little later tonight.

These guys interest me:

James White
Martin Zeno
Taj Gray

Zeno He's 6'5, 190. He was my favorite player at Texas Tech when I went there. He was All-District First Team last year (with DJ Augustin, Robert McKiver, CJ Jerrells, and Josh Carter). He shoots well from the field, and had developed an absolutely awesome 3pt shot before just flat out losing it last year. He averaged 13-4-3 as a Frosh, 14-5-3 as a Sophomore, 17-5-3 as a Junior, and 16-5-3 as a Senior, and shot 75-80% on FTs his last two years. He had 6 double doubles in his college career and eight games of 25+ points. He's a lot like DJ Augustin, in terms of his attitude and big play shooting.

Im happy with this summer league roster. I read good things about pat Calathes. I have always liked James WHite. If that guy could slow down just a little bit and put his game together I think he is 6th man potential. Davon Jefferson is upside. The guy has skills, again, like James White its about him putting it together.

Cedric Bozeman is not bad either.

After the first few games, I'm convinced Mata will make our roster come regular season.

Yes, that's sarcasm. As much as I root for the guy, I can't be serious.. it's painfully obvious how horrid he is.. sad (in my case), but true.
