2008 USA Men's Basketball Team

Does anyone know what the roster is as of now? Can somebody post it if possible?

Also, will there be any new additions or invites? Chris Paul would be hella nice now.
As well as probably some other players who are deserving and should be there. What about KG? What's he said?

I think Jason Kidd has not commited since he changed teams and had a .. bad season I guess you could say. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play and CP3 replaced him. Other than that there are guys who were injured this offseason that still might join the team, or at least tryout again.

Jason Kidd's been the leader last summer along with Kobe, but with the way CP3's been playing, I think he can effectively take over now. I expect the lineup to be something like this (starting 5):

C Dwight Howard
F Carmelo Anthony
F LeBron James
G Kobe Bryant
G Chris Paul

Carmelo playing at the 4 is a concern.. but he plays so well with Team USA it should be okay. And I'd take Dwight over Amare for the start because Dwight's a much better defender and rebounder.

I fail to realize why we need him. We need shooters more than anything.

i think wade should take the time off to recover fully for the heat. at least if i were the heat, that's what i'd ask him to do.

Deron Williams - solid pg
Shane Battier - great defender, smart player, can guard a couple positions
Carmelo Anthony - always played well with team USA
Elton Brand - if he is healthy and back in shape
Shawn Marion - another versitile player that plays good defense
Mike Miller - shooters ftw

I'd prefer Kobe to sit out and not hurt his pinky. That's not going to happen though.

not really, you have to throw some pure shooters in that lineup or the same thing that happend in the last olympics will happen again.

you would have to start mike miller, redd or joe johnson.

a lot of those guys are already not participating, i know odom and pierce are eliminated since they were not able to attend the last 2 summers because of injuries or personal reasons so they will not get the chance to play this time.

gilbert, bowen, ridnour and collison i believe were all cut or decided to not play

So nobody answered my question, what's up with KG? Did he just come out and say I don't wanna' bring back a gold medal for the USA and play for my country? What a prick.

Amare, Chandler, Redd, Mike Miller, Chauncey, Deron Williams, and TAYSHAUN PRINCE (forgot him for a sec) came off the bench.

Chris Paul needs to be put on that team, but there just isn't enough room. I would not change a thing to the roster because of the amount of success we had last summer.

If you put Paul in there, we would have 4 PGs. Our whole team was committed all the way through this summer.

Also, D-Wade does not deserve a spot on this list. No one should be replaced, and he is in no way ahead of CP3 to be on. If anything, we need another big man.

Agree. We need Miller. He's a smart team player, and he's deadly from the three. Exactly what Team USA has been needing.
