One of the things I found very cool was when the four swimmers were interviewed after getting the Gold medal one of them (I think it was Lezaik) said that they could not lose infront of two of the best in the world Kobe and Lebron. He said that helped fuel them that those two guys were there to cheer them on.

I think it means a lot to the other Olympians that Kobe, Bron and the rest of basketball players come to their events. It should also be mentioned that the Chinese Government will not let Kobe go anywhere but to the arenas and the Olympic village because he causes to much chaos :man10:

It was Jason Lezak.

^ It is a great thing because the Athens group acted as if they were better than the Olympians and basically alienated themselves. This group has done it the right way and I am proud to follow them.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Well the Athens group was put together after most of the 2003 Qualifying team didn't show. To me it made sense they were loners.

Too many young inexperienced (in international and even post season player) guys were sent.

May and Walsh got to visit the bball team after their match. Lots of checking out of the butts. :man1: Paul is guilty this time.

Kidd has been buddies (since their last Olympics I believe) with May i remember hearing (she's a big Kidd fan)

Anyone see Bolt win the 200m? I think he was first, might have been second. Nonetheless, he looked like he was saving something.

I just watched this. I know nothing about gymnastics or balance beam, but it looked to me like Liukin's routine was better than Shawn's. That one move where Nastia did a flip and landed on one foot on the beam was ill. I'm happy for Shawn Johnson though.

She was slightly more perfect but Shawn's routine has a higher start value.

Oh, and thats probably the first time I've heard anyone refer to anything in gymnastics as "ill". :mhihi:

I'm starting to believe this Chinese bias, this John Horton just did a HELL of a high beam and he only came in 2nd, should have been gold.

I've never ever believed any conspiracy theory...

not with NBA refs, Stern, not with goverments and nothing...

but its obvious they are biased in favor of China during the olympics....home cooking as expected.

The thing is, China has no judging in events they are involved in (nor does US, Russia, etc.). They do need to change the rules to get better qualified judges in the events though.

But they DO however have the power to detain anyone they want at the airport for basically any reason they want. Does it strike anyone else odd that the IOC has not publicly commented on the age issue of the Chinese girls?

^ It's on right now! 2nd set.

On a different note, did anybody see the two guys from the Georgia (the nation) beach volleyball team? Their names were George and Gia. I kid you not.

Oh man you're right, I assumed it was on at 8 when the Olympic coverage for the night started. Awesome, I'll get to see them win the gold.

It's possible but that would kill off any good reputation they have built up throwing a fairly good Olympics. The judging has been inconsistent but I think its effected all, not just in favor of the Chinese. However, they tend to have some of the best that can help sway the judges just on reputation (especially with crappier judges).
