Game 3: Thursday 8/14 - USA vs Greece- Predictions/Comments

Postby trodgers on Thu Aug 14, 2008 5:42 am

Just wanted to point out that the "LeBron has never had a player average 17 ppg" is ridiculous:

Big Z averaged 17.2 pts the season before coming to play with James, averaged 15.3, 16.9, 15.6 with Cleveland.

Boozer played with LBJ. Had a 15.5 ppg season in his second year in the league (with LBJ) and went on to almost 18 the next season.

Larry Hughes averaged 22.0 with Washington the season before coming to Cleveland. 15.5 1st year in Cleveland.

Bosh may start ahead of Howard against Spain. His hands and movement are better than Howard.

I think we can do better than Bosh and Howard. Howard is a loping behemoth with little skill. Bosh is a head case who gets abused all over the place.

James with an awesome play.

Stunning half of Basketball.

Defensive...speed...aggression to the hoop. The best 3 players in the world playing to their capabilty.

Just need to make sure that the guys dont get flashy in the 3rd and let Greece creep back into it.

So many turnovers for Greece. And many of them happen for no apparent reason: their player dribbles the ball, sees Bron or Kobe, says "oh s-!" and just fumbles it Kwame style. :man3:

Bosh suits the international game though. Nice jumper, long, good hands, quick feet for a big.

Kobe couldn't either until Pau came since the post-Shaq era. Pau is putting up the same numbers, 18 ppg, so I don't really credit that to Kobe.

I'd expect Greece to go on a little run outta halftime to draw it a lot closer.

So far the stars of the 1st half:

1) Dwyane Wade

2) Chris Bosh

3) Kobe Bryant

Wade has been a monster as a roamer on defense and attacking the basket for scores and dishes to teamates.

I had never known that Bosh was this skilled all around, its gonna be scary playing a Raptors team next year with him and Jermaine O'Neal

I'll put James up there as #4 with his put-backs. 11/6/3 in the 1st half.

kobe needs to shoot more from "kobe range" as in way beyond the nba 3 point line. those have been the only 3 pointers hes been making.

.

I thought the announcers were saying it like "James has never had a good scorer" on the team, which is false. He has had them. I think it's cool that Pau's numbers didn't really change with Kobe there. Except in 2 fewer minutes per game, he averaged 0.1 fewer points, but shot almost 9% higher. So Kobe pays dividends for players. We'll see if James can do it. He hasn't done it with good scorers in the past.
