Hinrich, Battier, and Oden Out; Collison in

Real GM: RealGM Staff Report - USA Basketball Senior National Team managing director Jerry Colangelo announced that USA Basketball veteran and Seattle SuperSonics four-year 6-10 forward Nick Collison had been added to the USA Senior National Team program.

USA Basketball also announced that two players who participated in the senior squad’s July training, Shane Battier (Houston Rockets ) and Kirk Hinrich (Chicago Bulls ), and Senior National Team member Greg Oden (Portland Trail Blazers ) who missed the July training after under going a tonsillectomy, have withdrawn from the August training and from consideration for the USA Team that will compete in the FIBA Americas Championship.

Yeah seems weird.

Sucks that Hinrich and Battier are out. Hinrich was a great back up for Kidd and Battier was pretty much our only defensive small forward.

Lucky we have such a great perimeter defense in Kidd and Kobe, and an Anchor like Dwight Howard, he may not be missed as much as he would have been.

yeah like everyone's saying, sucks about hinrich. but with kidd and deron and chauncy he may not have played much as it is.

Not exactly a hinrich fan...Kidd and Deron are way better anyway.

Battier absence sucks because he is a nice lockerroom presence and plays D and shoots the 3 pretty well.

on the other hand these guys are considered scrubs of the team. Team USA should have absolutely no problems winning without a couple of bench players...
