Michael Jordan 1992 Barcelona Olympic stats

This thread is for all the people complaining about Kobe's shooting, or his "slumping" 3 point shooting. Just take a look at MJ's numbers throughout the Barcelona Olympics -

Michael -

51-113 .451% FG

4-19 from 3 - 21%

13-19 from the FT line - 68%

2.4 steals

14.9 PPG

He shot just as bad from 3, and shot under 46% from the field.

He wasn't their primary scorer, he was ONE OF the scorers, and shot less then his regular season percentages.

And like Kobe, his team went to the Finals that year. My guess is that he was just saving his body and not trying to do too much unless it was needed. Kinda like how Kobe coasted against Angola and China, but stepped up against Greece. Kobe, like MJ, will give his best when his best is needed. The Dream Team never needed Michael that year.

I mentioned this in the Wade comparison to Jordan Olympic thread. Nobody seemed to notice it.

Gametimelaker, you should probably forward this to Chris Sheridan.

Great find.. unfortunately the world was so far behind then that it really didn't matter if MJ shot 40%.. we still would have won by a large margin. Still though, this should open some eyes.

Edit: Ok wait a minute, I just checked Kobe's stats, and he's doing worse than I thought. 17-41 from the field? Wow. He's still got time to pick that average up.. but it's not too pretty right now. I have faith that it'll rise.
