Olympic Opening Ceremony taped delay?

Guys, I don't know where to post or ask this question in CL.

Is the Olympic Opening Ceremony taped delay and show in NBC at 7:30pm Friday? I hope I am wrong because I ordered a HDTV just to watch that LIVE.

its not live. its gonna start at 8 PM on local TV but in china its starting at 8:08 PM china time which would be 5:08 AM here. the only way you can watch it live is if you find somewhere to watch it online.

I'll never understand why NBC doesn't broadcast these types of events live. I understand a tape delay so a majority of people can watch it at a convenient time, but why don't show it live in addition to the tape dealy? It's not as if they'll be displacing anything worth much advertising money at 5:08 AM or as if everyone and their dog won't know all the details about a ceremony that has taken place almost 15 hours before...

I get the feeling that should the moon landings have taken place these days, NBC would have showed them in tape delay at a convenient time.

All I can say is "WTF" is wrong with them? I am ready to take a day off to watch this live with my new HDTV.

actually they are banking on advertising money. prime time = higher prices for advertising. theyve already been paid close to a billion dollars for advertising during prime time.

a lot of people have work and wont be watching it early in the morning. it is an almost 4 hour ceremony after all. i know i wouldnt wake up at 5 AM just to watch the opening ceremonies if they were gonna replay it later in the day.
