Reggie Miller on Team USA next year?

On the Dan Patrick show yesterday, he said that he would like to join Team USA if Ray Allen or Michael Redd are not on the team.

Thoughts?

Well he did mention that he would still like to join the team and sent out a request to Colangelo to invite him. I don't think he would hurt us at all. He's an excellent shooter and the type of player team USA needs (even at his age).

Well Reggie did say that he will hit the gym and prepare if he's given the green light. I don't think he has that much wear and tear on his body because he has always relied on his jump shot. Reggie was not known as a "drive-to-the-basket" type player. He is still in shape and most importantly, he can still shoot. I feel that team USA can use a player like him.

Hmm. Why?

The whole idea of your programm was to build a team - meaning that whatever purpose each player serves - he has to be accustomed with his teammates and the system. This means he will have to be in for the long term. Miller, while an excellent shooter, doesn't fit the long term plan - unless Colangelo is going to play him in his fourties.

It is a toss between Allen and Redd for now. But even if both of them were to withdraw - Reggie still would not be my next choice. As a matter of fact I would take Pierce before each of the above three.

Besides - if Kobe and Billups play - shooters discussion is redundant.
