Team USA names Chandler No. 1 alternate

ESPN: New Orleans Hornets center Tyson Chandler has been invited to travel with Team USA to the Beijing Olympics as the No. 1 alternate, ESPN.com has learned.

That means Chandler can be added to the active roster until Aug. 6 in the event of injury to one of the 12 active roster members.

Team USA's other five alternates will be Kevin Durant, Joe Johnson, Mike Miller, Chauncey Billups and Shawn Marion.

Smart move, especially considering Superman's injury.

at least miller's one of the alternates [though i wanted him on the roster]
but good choice with chandler too

Arenas>Wade, Paul. Arenas can shoot and play defense.

Gill is a chucker who rarely plays defense. He's also had a falling-out with the coaching staff.

I wouldn't mind having Pierce. That said, you can't make someone join if they don't want to.
