Bigs look lazy and ineffective like someone else said...I am developing a huge disliking for Chris Bosh.

Ugly win and USA should try to go into Beijing with a more spirited and efficient game against Australia.

Couldn't agree more. I don't have a problem with an alley oop off a pick and roll or in a fastbreak where thats the best pass to make. But come on, Chris Paul throwing an no look alley oop to Howard when he has 3 guys on him? Thats just pathetic.

Alright guys, pick 2 strongest links that did well and 2 weakest links that were terrible against Russia today.

Kobe Bryant and D-Will are the strong links.

And-1 plays and LeBron James are the weak links.

This one was sloppy, no doubt about it. Coach K will have a few words with the team. On the other hand, I was speculating on whether the team is fully accommodated to the time change? But Kobe held them off in the 3rd and Redd hit those 2 key 3's at the end of the 3rd to open up some distance. I forecast Redd being a difference maker once in awhile, and that was him in this game.

Outside shots and free throws were not dropping all night long. I'd be surprised if the team shot 50%. The team doesn't do zone defense well; I think it's because they're not used to it; not too many pro teams use it much. But at least the D was mostly there enough that the Russians only scored 18 more points the rest of the game after they closed to 8 midway thru the 3rd.

I didn't read the article but BSPN has a headline story about Kidd being "benched" as if it's a big story. Seemed nothing more than Coach K giving the old man a break in a meaningless game to me.

I'm still claiming there is nothing Kidd can do that Deron and Paul cannot.

Paul didn't look great against Russia by any means but Kidd has not done anything in either game, nor did he do anything with Dallas this year. In the playoffs Paul was running circles around him and Kidd was completely lost on both ends of the floor. Experience doesn't win games if your tank is empty.

He is 35 tho....thats the time where most PGs flush down the toilet anyway.

BTW, how can you say it was a meaningless game? They are playing the European champions before the big tournament...it was their biggest game of the year so far.

CP13 forced some alleyoops, which is why kidd should be in there. also, i think there was way too much one-on-one play. coach k should have the team swing the ball more.

KB24@CL, CP3 and Deron Williams are better players than Kidd. However, Kidd brings that mentality to keep the ball moving, make sure EVERYONE else gets involved, and only take his shot if hes wide open. Paul and Williams, especially Paul, need the ball in their hands to be effective, moreso than Kidd. Kidd also always Team USA to switch a lot more pick and roll on defense because he is the biggest point guard. On a team without much scoring ability D-Will or Paul would be better options, but not on this team.

I don't think I'm better than Kidd...

of course you have a point. If you take Paul and Deron, you need someone who is a little bit different and those 2 are used to be offensive options number 1 and Kidd can play without taking a single shot which has also been the case a couple of times.

But considering how team USA is undersized and lacks rebounders and post defense, you have to question whether it would have been a better option to take a guy like Chandler, Camby or Elton Brand instead.

I mean Prince and Boozer look reluctant too...Bosh is already providing scoring from the bench for the bigmen...Boozer doesn't bring anything special to the team and he could have been replaced with a more defensive minded player.

The game didn't have any affect on their road to gold. What was the game for? Nothing but a tune up for team USA. It was pretty much meaningless.

As for Kidd in the playoffs, that has nothing to do with these games. Paul didn't look too good himself out there. He was getting beat play after play on defense. I think Deron is the best PG for the job in international play. He's a good defender, strong, and gets in the lane at will. Plus he can shoot, Kidd's weakness.

It's pretty simple: Chandler should have been picked over Boozer or Prince.. as I'm sure people have been yelling since the team was announced. JKidd belongs on the squad, he can still ignite that fastbreak like no other and I'm assuming he's one of the leaders on and off the court.
