Andrew Bynum Appreciation Thread

Andrew was drafted into a split house from the onset.... he never escaped it either. Phil never wanted him... Mitch wanted May and the fan base has always been polarized from day one.

He made me a fan when he didn't back down to Shaq..... and his stretches of dominance leading up to the two big knee injuries.

Last year he came into his own and showed the league what he could do on the floor. I've always liked watching post players over wings and guards..... so he and Pau always caught my attention more than the other players out there..... I think that my comments about his play has been misinterpreted as being a blind fan of his.... which I'm not.

He didn't handle himself the right way this year but if the truth be told he handled himself better than the center we got in a lot of respects.... If he can rise above the fray he will grow into a consistent and dominant force.

I look forward to watching Bynum continue his career in Philly and I believe he will take the next step baring injury.

Good luck Drew.

I have mixed feelings about this trade. I've been hard really hard on Bynum at times but I really enjoyed watching him dominate when he had his mind right and he was with us for 7 seasons. He was part of 2 championship runs and at times he looked like he could be the next great big man in line. He played hurt through 2 championship runs.

If Bynum gets his mind right he could dominate. I wish him the best of luck. I appreciate the time he was a Laker.

^Good post. He's young and improving. If he sets his mind on his improving his post game, passing out of double teams, and being a force on defense, then the sky's the limit for Andrew, and I think he will.

Philly provides a young, athletic team, with good guard play that will be able to give Andrew easy opportunities. They have no one to guard him in the Eastern Conference; and in the right offensive system with shooters around Bynum, he can dominate.

I wish the best for him; I believe if Drew stays healthy, Philly can be a top 3-4 seed in the east. I think the other part to all his is Doug Collins. He is a very good coach. I see that as a perfect fit for Drew. Collins will know how to properly utlize Drew.

Best of luck, Andrew...

any word from Andrew about the trade? I imagine not, but thought there might be a quote at least from his agent. Most of the other players have.

I'll be interested to see his progress next season, to see if he can get to some of the heights some posters expected of him here. I hope he does, he was a part of 2 rings and it was great to see him develop for 7 years, good luck to him.

Gonna miss the big fella. As excited as I am for Howard I loved Bynum. Saw him grow from 17 to a 25 year old man. A player that had a ton of bad breaks that really prevented him from becoming all that he could have been. I still see him becoming a hell of a player and leading Philly to the playoffs

I see him being one of the top 3 post players in the league for years

Loved his attitude, loved him sucking it up for us in 2009 and 2010

Gonna miss him, gonna miss seeing him just like I did Lamar

I'll never forget this sequence either, on one leg, coming in and giving as much as he could and in this case, made two big plays.....

Philly has got something special now. I hope Bynum and Collins can forge a great relationship and produce a winning environment there. Young Drew has got a wealth of experience to share with those young players and will become an instant leader. oh, one last thing, when Drew eventually gets injured again and no team wants him I hope he can finish his career as a Laker backup.

Will definitely miss Drew. He showed so much heart coming back from injury in 2010 and playing hurt throughout the playoffs - made a difference for that title.

However you criticize Drew, he always worked hard in the offseason, and came back better each year.

Great player, wish him the best of luck in Philly.

i think i am finally over it. it was difficult for me to move on. Bynum is still one of my favorite players him and kobe. I love Bynum's game. I really enjoy watch him develop into a Star player. I am very happy that Philly is the best place for him better than houston, magic, or cavs. Bynum should be excited about it. So he can lead his own team to the Finals. I hope you will win MVP someday. So good luck in Philly! GO BYNUM BEAST! I will watch 76ers games as much as i can. Maybe I will fly to LA to watch 76ers vs Lakers in Jan.

Honestly I'm still half expecting David Lee to come out and say no one has contacted him or his client about being traded to Philly.

I'm sure many of you know I was pretty critical of him. But after 7 long tumultuous years. Drew feels like family to be honest....I am sad to see him go. Happy to have Dwight, but sad to see Drew cut from the fold.

It's strange.. I think Bynum will elevate his offensive game to the point where he is the clear cut best Center in the league, but I still think Dwight will fit better & we'll win more with Dwight.. Drew is a really special player & I'll be watching 76ers games much more frequently than in the past

Andrew Bynum. I just want to say "thank you".
We almost never get a pick as high as #10, and I really appreciate that you turned out to be such a solid selection in a League where even #1 picks turn out to be busts.

I especially want to thank you for playing through so much pain in your knees in the 2010 Finals, especially game 7. The 1984 Finals were the most painful I ever watched and the loss in game 7 was devastating. You gutted through severe pain in your knee to give the Lakers the size and rebound advantage they needed to win. I really wish you the best in Philly. I'm sure you will prove the doubters wrong and will stay healthy and put up MVP numbers there. Unless you play the Lakers in the Finals, I will always wish you the best in your playoff games.

It was fun watching you grow up from the guy who got in a tussle with Shaq during your first game against him to a guy grabbing 30 boards one night and 10 blocks the next.
