Andrew Bynum > Tim Duncan

Individually speaking, Duncan simply couldn't impose himself physically the way Bynum can. That's because Bynum is way bigger, taller, longer, etc. Duncan is actually 6'10-6'11. Bynum is a legit 7'1. Bynum also has 20-30 pounds on Duncan. Here's a comparison of some benchmark games in their careers:

First 40 point game:

Bynum - 21 years, 86 days
Duncan - 23 years, 228 days

First 20 rebound game:

Bynum - 23 years, 160 days
Duncan - 21 years, 191 days

First Playoff Triple Double:

Bynum - 24 years, 183 days
Duncan - 25 years, 360 days

Duncan has never had a 30 rebound game
Duncan has never had a 10 block game

Duncan's career high in scoring a 50-point game, but I'm confident that somewhere down the line, Drew will have a 50-point game in his career as well.

Duncan is/was a great player and has achieved alot, but he also had the rare fortune of being in a position to win immediately. Most #1 picks end up on the worst team in the league. The Spurs only got the #1 pick because David Robinson was injured for the year, and they tanked. So Robinson comes back the next season AND they added Tim Duncan. Instant contenders.

Not trying to take anything away from Duncan, but it's obvious even now, that Bynum has the physical ability to do much more damage than Duncan ever could. If we can get the right pieces on this team after Kobe, I think we can win 2-3 more rings with Bynum as our franchise player.

Listen, I'm a 28 year old man who was going crazy today.....but this is INSANE. Tim Duncan in my eyes is the best power forward of all time. Nevermind the fact all this age stuff, Bynum came out of high school and Duncan went I'm fairly sure all 4 years at WF....c'mon man be more realistic

All I can say is that I LOL'd.

C'mon now. I love Drew as you can tell by my SN, but Tim is the greatest 4 of all time. Bynum has a long way too go before he even comes close to Duncan's level.

Let's see if Andrew can be the #1 reason his team wins a championship once before we compare him to Duncan who has been the #1 reason his team has won four.

If he does what he did today 15 more times, it will be a good start.

How does that matter? I already pointed out that Duncan has never had 30 rebounds in a game...EVER. He has never had 10 blocks in a game...EVER. Bynum is physically able to do things that Duncan can't, and he has already.

That Duncan has been on winning teams shouldn't count against Drew being the more able player. Let me put it this way: If Dwight Howard was Bynum's PF and #2 guy, and we also had say Iguodala, J.Johnson, and Westbrook being coached by Tom Thibodeau, that team will win multiple rings. That's the type of team Duncan had around him.

I actually agree with this thread, but not because of the stats. Bynum is basically a bigger version of Duncan. Because of that, he matches up better against Duncan one on one.

6 months ago, no GM would've taken Bynum over Dwight. Not so sure any more. And Bynum has yet to see his prime but he's already done things Duncan didn't.

Kurt Rambis was just recently saying Bynum was a young Tim Duncan. He's not a GM, but thats pretty close.

How does a prime Duncan make up for the fact that Bynum is bigger than him and is just about as skilled as him?

for the last two seasons yes Bynum has been better. overall carrier, not even close and cant be determined as yet. it like trying to compare Jason Kidd to Kyrie ervin makes no sense.

Actually, if there is one thing Shaq is best at, its selecting his coaches.

Let me put it in a better context:

When Kobe was young and this was Shaq's team, we still KNEW that you could build a team around Kobe and get MJ-esque results. Many of us also saw that Kobe could achieve a certain dominance individually that not even MJ could (i.e. 81 points in a game, 62 points in 3 quarters). I see the same in Bynum. We can build a team around him and continue winning. And on the way, he'll have some monster games that dwarfs anything Duncan did (individually).

This season? Sure.

Over a career? Jesus Christ, no.

OK, but when Kobe was 6 years into his career it wasn't even in a discussion, there was a ton of potential that we saw, but we weren't saying Kobe > MJ yet either. Now since Kobe has accomplished so much it's a real discussion. The fact Duncan never had 30 rebounds in a game means literally nothing to me. Duncan is Duncan man...Drew has 1 all star start in his ENTIRE career, before we start saying Drew is better why don't we give it another 5 years. Just be realistic I don't care what single game accolades Drew has he's not even close to a prime Duncan not yet, now now...hopefully when it's all said and done he'll 5 titles and be leaps and bounds past him but for now on April 29th 2012 he's simply not there yet....sorry man
