Austin Daye To The Lakers?

Austin Daye To The Lakers?

The LA Lakers have made some great moves this summer as the team tries to win another NBA Championship, but while most the new player signings have resulted in the team adding older veterans, the latest trade rumor with Detroit could land the team a young and athletic small forward.

The Pistons have too many players on their active roster, especially in the front-court, and the latest from Dan Feldman suggests the team is looking to trade Austin Daye, and the LA Lakers are one of the teams that could have interest in the 6'11" forward.

Detroit drafted Daye in the first round back in 2009, and while the 24-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent, for the most part his game has not flourished with the Pistons. Last year the youngster averaged 4.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in just 14 minutes of action, but a change of scenery could be just what Daye needs to kick-start his career.

The LA Lakers could use some youth on their roster and a player that could grow with the team, and adding Daye would likely cost the team just one of their young guards who is not playing much anyway and a future NBA draft pick. While nothing is concrete with this trade, look for the front office to fill the need for a young small forward, and Daye is a player worth taking a shot at for the upcoming basketball season.

Seems like a McBob type of player right now but I remember watching a few games where he showed some signs of becoming a decent offensive threat. I think Detroit just has too much money tied up in Charlie V. to keep him around. If McBob is traded this would be an awesome pick up. Also, if Detroit would be willing to trade for one of our young guards like the article says please take any of our summer league players. Lots of ifs.

I'd love to add Daye. He'd instantly improve our shooting and also make us younger. Doubt it happens though, but you can never doubt the wizard known as Mitch :)

Hm... lots of rumors around. I'm wondering how much of this points to a Howard trade coming. Say we trade away McRoberts and Ebanks to get Howard and maybe a Richardson...

Maybe we're starting to call up guys to fill in gaps? Martin? Daye? Meeks?....

Nash/ Blake
Bryant/ Meeks/ Odom
Artest/ Richardson/ Daye
Gasol/ Jamison/ Martin
Howard/ Hill

That team is shockingly good. If Mitch finds a way to construct that team or one like that.

he's tall but he doesn't play like it, not complaining bout this pickup if it happen but we shouldnt' expect to much considering Det brought old man Prince back at a pretty hefty annual salary when Daye was suppose to be his replacement.

He's from SoCal...in fact he's from IRVINE....would love to see him on the Lakers. Change of scenery would definitely help him.

I'd LOVE to give them Morris, GLock or Steve Blake.

Why are we still pursuing PFs when we are already stacked at that position? Get a backup for KObe please ...

But in my mind is not a two-guard also ... which to me, is our biggest need.

Great argument. With that kind of statement, we could close this whole community and move on ... :man11:

But think about it -- there has to be a good reason. We just don't know what happening behind the scenes. Mitch does.

Pretty much. It could be that we will trade McBob in a trade for Dwight Howard, or just trade him for a backup wing player. I'd be happy with either scenario.

article says

"latest from Dan Feldman"

but search for that latest and you won't find it.

someone find me a mention from Dan Feldman that links Lakers/Daye - otherwise it's likely made up.

Thanks for the detective work, and taking time to post EP. Locking this until there is some source more valid than random blog guy.
