That's not true.

That's what I was getting at -- in the last 9 games, they were averaging 20-25+ touches a game. You were saying that doesn't happen when Kobe was around. I was trying to show you it does, even when Kobe explodes like he did against Portland for 47.

But I generally agree with your post. We should go into the bigs.

That being said, I wish Dwight was a skilled enough player to get 30/15.

Maybe not "untrue" but certainly "skewed" when you consider the times, especially for Dwight, where they are fouled while shooting or first to keep them (him especially) from shooting, or outright stripped of the ball once in their possession, don't count toward potential shot attempts. So "shot attempts" can often be very misleading. Just again pointing out what many others have said here numerous times. So what is your real "magic number"?

I think you're missing the point. My point was that the bigs got IMO a 'good' number of shot attempts in game 1 if they're getting around 28 together. It doesn't matter (to me anyway) if D12 got 16 and Pau got 12, or, D12 got 10 and Pau got 18. If we played a game where the front court got 28 shots combined or more, I think that is a good thing that we need to continue doing.

Are you saying they ARE misleading or they MIGHT be? If you're saying they are, in this case, where are your numbers to show that? I don't think it is misleading at all in this case.

Someone was complaining that D12 only got 12 shot attempts. My point (again) is that if the frontcourt is getting 28 together, which is a number that doesn't occur very often this year, then that's good regardless of how the 28 breaks out.

Just saying, like others, that shot attempts doesn't take into account how many actual total times the team, even with Kobe on the floor, got the ball into their hands. Maybe between them there were 20 "shots" (highly dependent on skill level once the ball is in your possession, aside from dropping in dunks off of lobs), but in reality they got the rock in their hands on offense actually 30 times total.

It's irrelevant. Just as irrelevant as a shot attempt that was forced due to receiving the ball way too late in the shot clock resulting in a registered FGA that was missed but not really their fault.

It doesn't change the fact that in game 1, they took 28 combined OFFICIAL field goal attempts (Gasol/D12) and that this doesn't happen very often when Kobe is on the court since it only happen 13.6% of the time this year.

With Kobe out, D12 and Gasol SHOULD be getting more combined shot attempts (and they did) regardless of whether or not it counts as an attempt even if you're blocked from the weak side or the strong side.

Absolutely loved the intensity, fire, and motor he had in the first half. Foul trouble in the 3rd allowed Parker to single-handedly destroy us in the quarter.

Got to keep feeding him every chance you get in game 3 and 4. The perimeter guys actually hit some shots tonight and Howard did a good job of passing out of the double and triple teams to find them.

He played well, as usual. But those fouls.... it's unfair really, because he gets fouled non-stop and those are not called.

Yep. Every battle he got into with TD could have been a foul called either way and for a stretch there, that was every time down the court. That was fun to watch though -- those two going at it.

He has leverage he absolutely SHOULD have a list of demand. D'Antoni should be gone he deserves a team like the Nuggets or Warriors he has no place here in L.A! Request shooters do something while you can!

P.S...stop making stupid offensive fouls & thanks for bringing the intensity at least.

dwight was able to play above the rim more so than he has all season. he got really high a couple times. good to see. shows that after an offseason of lifting he may get really close to 100% which is all that really matters.

def after off season training he'll be balling for us. hes playing much better now it just sucks that everyone around him is injured to some degree or hasnt been playing together long enough to have that cohesion.

next season with some off season moves, kobe and nash being healthy, and maybe dantoni coaching to his team and not to his system with defense as a focus we can do damage. maybe

Dwight has been playing good, but Shaq and Chuck are right. Dwight has to have that "kill" mentality and really dominate.

While I agree.... the times when he is fouled and it isn't called we at least have a chance at scoring.... when they call it it's 50-50 at best....

He's officiated a lot like Shaq was actually. He uses his elbows a lot on the offensive end and gets murdered on the offensive one....

Awww come on..... he's giving it every thing he has out there including the elbows to the heads. What more can he do at this point to dominate? Eff Shaq and Chuck. Shaq was a 7' 330lb freak. Dwight goes 6'10" and around 260-270. STFU Shaq.

I'd have to agree with Shaq and Chuck too. Dwight is supposed to be a superstar and he will need to do a lot better than 16 points. Especially ... when Kobe isn't in the game. He should be in the high 20s and beyond and I thought they made a good point that if the Lakers can't get more out of Dwight Howard than the Spurs get out of Duncan, then we're likely screwed.

Well refs certainly not treating him like a superstar.....if Shaq played the way he does in yesterday game he wouldn't even last a half before picking up 3-4 fouls. These refs dont seem to let bigs play physical anymore, granted Howard does push off often but compared to shaq who just bulldozes his way into a dunk with his elbow swinging, shoulders down and just dislodging his opponents out the way, think its kinda unfair. Deep down Fatty Chuck and Snaq should reconsider how refs are now vs. when they played.

Dwight was fantastic last night. He dominated offensively and defensively. The refs just didn't want him to win tonight. Pop and Duncan hold too much weight. Any time he'd start to get into a rhythm we'd hear a whistle and get an offensive foul called. All of the fouls called on him were absolutely legitimate, but during the play he's ALWAYS getting held, pulled, pushed, hit, scratched, and beaten. I think the only foul where I'd say that he was absolutely fairly called was the push on Danny Green. The others were all bulls***.

He played with great intensity, great focus, and great attitude. I loved it. He's really won me over and any doubts that I might have harbored about him being a true cornerstone type of player are disappearing. It's great also knowing that he's also not 100% and could actually improve.
