Me too!! :bang:

It's like a roller coaster ride of emotion. :man3:

Why the conflicting reports? They range from he is on schedule, to he is 1 week behind schedule, to Sky saying April. :man4:

Which do you all think is truest?

You can't be serious?

My credibility is going to be affected by saying what I think? Well, I haven't been excommunicated for committing a worse sin than saying the Lakers aren't better than another; I've said I prefer James over Bryant.

With Gasol as our defensive anchor, I maintain what I said. Dallas is a better team especially now that they've added Jason Kidd. That adds a completely different dimension to their team.

i completely disagree. Dallas got marginally better with this deal. their interior defense is going to be a joke. i'd welcome a playoff matchup with the Mavs.

A Gasol and Odom interior defense is not exactly stifling.

L4L,

Their defense (Pau and LO) is not stifling, but the team defense takes care of that. Team defense has been a very important part for our success so far.

yes it adds a dimension to their team, but where is their interior D or their inside offense? Dirk Nowitzki cant spell defense and on the offensive side, he is money on that little fade away but for the most part he loves playing the top of the key or beyond the arc.

Their front line is Dampier/Nowitzki. Can you tell me that Bynum/Gasol is not better?

In a playoff matchup

Bynum > Dampier
Gasol = Nowitzki (Lets see how Gasol performs in the playoffs with Kobe, we all know how great dirk is in the playoffs :freak2:)
Odom > Josh Howard (Based on how Odom has been playing lately, nothing against Howard)
Kobe >>>> Whoever their shooting guard is
Fisher < Kidd (But Fisher is more consistant in terms of scoring)

The scary thing is that this upcoming post season, Kobe Bryant KNOWS he has a legit chance at the title now. You gotta know Kobe will come out with a new passion in the playoffs. As for Dirk, the Mavs star, lets see when he can actually not choke for once.

Not scared of the Mavs, not scared of the Suns, not scared of the Spurs.

Our defense has not been close to impressive with Pau at C save two games which were against the Hawks and T-Wolves.

The most important part of team defense is a competent defensive anchor to erase mistakes made by perimeter defenders. That is the key component of team defense.

Gasol and Odom are not championship caliber anchors.

All the more reason why we need Bynum back for the playoffs.

Bynum said in his interview during the Clippers game tonight that he should take another 4-6 weeks to return. He also said April 1 is the best case scenario!

I hope that is just because they are being extra slow and cautious because they are winning without him.

It seems Sky was right when he said he would return in April.

Get rid of him on your fantasy teams if you still have him, since he'll probably work in slowly and won't be of any use sitting on your bench until April 1 (playoffs usually kick in before or at that time).

These words were

STRAIGHT FROM BYNUM'S MOUTH.

Not Phil, not the media, not the newspaper. This was during the Clippers game, couldn't get anymore current than that.

Bynum - "4-6 weeks"
12/16 - ESPN publishes article about Dirk being the most clutch player.
night of 12/16 - Kobe hits GW shot, surpassing MJ's total
12/17 - ESPN publishes article about how Kobe is not the most clutch player LOL!

My guess is that it has something to do with him being 7'1 and having a huge frame. Perhaps it takes longer for bigger guys to heal.

guys, bynum wasnt the one that said april 1st, ireland said it and he just agreed. he says he will get 10-15 games under his belt before the playoffs so i dont think its panic time yet. same ol' thing has changed from prior news.

He said two conflicting things; "before April 1st is best case scenario" and "I'll be back 10-15 games before the playoffs", which is between March 20th and March 28th.

If he's back by March 29th that will have been nearly 10 weeks. That's reasonable.

well if he maxes out to 6 weeks, he'll have a few games where he can stat playing in game action

hopefully he'll take 4 weeks or an early 5 weeks so he can get more action and get used to it more.

the most important thing for andrew will be his endurance and getting into game shape with the combo of his touch....i really would hate if he loses his touch around the basket.

ALSO, with a few games under his belt and IF the lakers are able to win their first round, that will work great for Drew...he'll really be in game shape IIIIFFFF this team gets into the second round.

Agent Ireland's Article:

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Here's the latest on Bynum:

He ran in a swimming pool earlier this week, which is encouraging.

But what is really important is how much that knee swells now. That could determine if and when he can come back.

By the way, I keep hearing and reading these reports that Bynum is "behind schedule" in his recovery and "could miss the rest of this year." Anybody saying that is just making it up.

The truth is that it's too early to tell what his timeline is.

I've talked to two different doctors about Bynum and they both agree about one thing: the original projection of "at least eight weeks" is still accurate.

They told me that with an injury like this, the most important thing to do is rest it for at least a month, which Bynum has done.

Now, over the next month, he'll test the knee to see how it holds up.

If it swells a lot, it's an indicator that he needs more time.

When I asked if it's unusual for a knee like that to swell after five weeks of rest, I was told, "no, it would be unusual if it didn't swell."

So for anybody to suggest that his recovery is behind schedule is just speculating.

Could he miss the season? Sure, but so could anybody else.

His original return time was projected as mid-March.

If he's not back by April, he's behind schedule...but not until then.

Plus, what's the hurry? The Lakers have won nine of their last ten games (eight of those wins coming on the road) and are in first place in their division. Gasol is playing center, and he's been fantastic.

The Lakers probably need Bynum to compete for a title this year, but not at the expense of hurting that knee long-term.

I say let him sit until he's totally ready, and until then, go to battle with the team that looked so good on Wednesday.

Even if he gets back in april, it's not like our championship posibillities are completely out the window. You guys act like we are gonna just give up. We still have as good a chance to win as anyone.

Bynum Still Doesn't Have Timetable For Return
February 26, 2008 - 12:07 pm
Press-Enterprise -

There still is no timetable for Andrew Bynum's return, but he could return later in March.

"There's no pressure on me to come back," Bynum told the Press Enterprise. "I definitely want to get back 100 percent. That's what I plan to do, however long it takes. I still that I could make the eight-week deadline, but I'm not going to force it."
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."
