No the new CBA prevents Fisher from returning to the Lakers this season.

No, he's not allowed to re-sign with the Lakers this season. He won't be re-signing next season either; he'll be another year older next year and I really don't think the Lakers would want an even older Derek Fisher back on this team.

Would rather have Chauncy for vet leadership next year. Fishers skills too diminished.

Thank god for that ... I don't wanna be disrespectful to Fish but he's way past any starting caliber player and it seemed like he had "starting-5-guarantee-clause" and I think it's time to move on. As an assistant, yes. But not as a player please.

even if we could bring him back (which we can't), he'd be more of a distraction at this point than anything. logjam at the pg position...figuring out 'who gets to play when' hurts all 3 players. not worth the hassle. time to accept change and move forward.

Just sign him as an assistant coach, or give him some nice front office position in the Lakers organization. He's still part of the team, and we improved our squad. He can use his knowledge to help Sessions and Blake, and the Lakers and fans can stop calling in and complaining about having to see him in another uniform. It's really a win-win for everyone. Give the man a damn front office job, Mitch!!!!! :jam2:

I think they need to hook him up with a Job, he should be a part of the Laker Fam for a long time to come.

I am kind of surprised we haven't heard anything from Fisher about thanking the fans of Los Angeles or something along those lines. When a key player leaves a city after so many years, don't they usually release a statement?

They gave him away. What changed that they want him back now?

I think Fisher will follow Phil Jackson wherever he goes, if he comes back.

Who the hell would sign a 37 year old Derek Fisher?

traded the wrong scrub PG, I'm hardly a Fisher fan but as noted he brought that leadership skills, Blake brings NOTHING

he can't resign here until July first.

Tonight seemed like a night where Kobe was just mentally out of it and my assumption is that had a lot to do with Fish being gone starting to settle in.

Sorry, but no. The difference between Fisher and Blake is that Blake knows when his shot isn't falling, you give up the rock to guys that have it going. Opposed to Fisher who just keeps jacking up bricks, leading to easy fast break buckets for the other team. I'd rather see Blake's 0 points on 0/2 shooting, instead of Fisher's 4 points on 2/10 shooting.

And on defense, Blake had a much better shot at staying in front of his man. If he got beat, he got beat at the rim, opposed to Fisher who got beat at the 3 pt line. Fisher is the worst player in the league, and not a single team wants him on their squad, despite all these "intangibles" that people talk about. No one has ever thought Blake was anything special, but people sure are deluded over Fisher's value.

Can we sign him to a 30 minute contract? You know, the last two minutes of a close game. :man1:

As bad as Fisher has been I'd rather have him than Blake. With Fisher at least you get great leadership and clutch shooting. With Blake you get nothing.
