Deron not coming to LA

Deron not coming to LA

According to this recent ESPN article by Marc Stein, sources close to Williams say he is only considering the Nets or Mavs once the free agency period begins on July 1.

Read the article. If you have any hopes at all of the Lakers landing Deron, those hopes should be completely dashed now. Any previous mention of Deron considering the Lakers, I now believe, were just designed to increase his leverage for swinging a bigger deal to stay with the Nets or also a better deal with the Mavs.

It is time to move to another option and get another point guard, instead of Williams. Steve Nash, IMO, is the next best realistic option.

hmm I wonder if what would happen if there was a Deron Williams thread created? Damn all to heck... Well at least we have one now although it is anti-climatic since he obviously isn't coming to LA.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

As he said in an earlier article release weeks ago, he doesn't see himself coming here unless it's through a trade since he's not going to play for the mini-MLE. And since the Lakers FO won't trade Bynum for him, and the Nets don't want Pau, Deron's only realistic options are Brooklyn and Dallas.

Even outside of a sign and trade, I think it was all just a ploy anyway from Deron's agent basically creating a "sources say" thing weeks ago about Deron having interest in joining the Lakers. That was just a ploy to create more demand, and thus leverage, in his negotiations with the Nets and also Mavs. He never was seriously interested in LA.

The other thing is Dwight Howard. You gotta think that Dwight has filled Deron's head with his beef with LA. The sad thing is that there will be no Deron or Dwight next year for the Lakers. Deron ain't coming to Tinseltown, and neither is Dwight. That leaves us with the same Lakers as we had last season, and the only other teams willing to trade are gonna make the Lakers worse not better.
