The problem of course is the way that wording was stated that Deron would prefer to stay in NJ. If so then there is not much leverage for a trade to happen. Why would they give him up, even for Bynum? I think they are trying to retain him in order to have a better shot at D12.

I wouldn't do that deal. We'd be incredibly soft inside. Brook Lopez is basically a younger and even softer version of Lopez. Gasol/Lopez would be the softest 4/5 combo in basketball.

^^ I think what you meant to say is Lopez is a softer version of Pau (clearly he's not softer than himself - might be softer than his twin brother, but he's better)?

At any rate, you can always still move Gasol for other pieces. The fact is you'd have a guy with competitive fire who always brings it in D. Wil, not unlike Chris Paul.

In the meantime, you could also have Hill coming off the bench at backup 4/5 and playing hard-nosed hustle ball and rebounding.

I would do that Deron & Lopez trade for Bynum trade without hesitation.. Mitch would too; however, I see no reason why the Nets would it though.

Why wouldn't they? They get the best big man in the game for a guy who's gonna leave anyway. Gives them a great building block for the future. Once again that trade would make us very, very soft inside which is why we can't do that deal.

I like the idea of getting Deron..... but a giant "Hell No" to Lopez..... everyone around here would long for Drew's lack of focus rather than watch a 7 footer run around like a SF and get 5 rebounds a game..... Lopez is fools gold.....

A 3 way with Pau as the center piece would be the best way to do it..... if he even really wants to play here......

I'm not so sure..... it's that time of year again where everyone drops the "Lakers" to get where they really want to go or a little more money..... which I believe to be Dallas with him.... I see it as prodding Cuban more than really looking at us.....

Pau + Lopez + D. Morris to ORL
Dwight + Deron (S+T) to LA

Trade Blake for Jamal Crawford
Resign Hill and a get a backup PG and SF for mini-MLE.

Deron can play/defend both point or shooting guard. He played next to Rose, Wade and James (each ball-dominant) during the All-Star game and was spectacular. That’s part of what makes him better than Paul. Paul can’t play off the ball. Deron can play off the ball, and has a impact (as a lethal 3-point threat).

Perfect snyposis of Deron. He can play off the ball and isn't primarily a pick and roll guard. He can run the offense in a halfcourt setting which he did in Utah with Jerry Sloan, he's great in transion, has a beautiful midrange game, a great finisher, etc. I absolutely love his game and would prefer him over Paul in a millisecond.

Do I see it happening? No, I think he ends up in Dallas, unfortunately. If a deal like this were to get done we would need a 3rd team. It's nice to think about but we have to work with what's realistic and this just isn't right now...

I like my idea better, Anderson comes here :man10:

and Crawford is opting out of his final year unless he changed his mind. IF this scenario happens, I'd offer mini MLE to Novak, if Ebank is brought back let him be the backup 2 and yes to resign Hill. Use TPE to get us a backup C as well.....my fantasy off-season :man10:
