Deron Williams Trade Discussion (Resigning w/Brooklyn)

This is the new NBA, the rules have been changed so that you can win without a consistent post presence.

At this point, I would trade Andrew for DWill easily. He would be a bigger impact for us as a ball handler, creator and shooter on a more consistent basis than anything that Drew could do for us.

Not saying Drew isn't high impact, it's just that it's only true when Drew chooses to play hard.

And keep Pau who has chosen to take the last two playoffs off?

I'd love D-Will here but we go no further than we did this year keeping Pau over Bynum IMO...

Getting just D-Will for even Pau doesn't get us over the top either IMO... we'd still have crap for a bench and huge holes at the 3 and 4 to still contend with....... unfortunately that's how bad it is....

We need multiple players to balance this team....

Deron wants Mavs, so he is not bound for LA.

Dwight definitely doesn't want LA.

^^ I would also be willing to trade Bynum for D. Will. Hopefully with us shedding a guy like Blake and getting a big in return like Lopez as well. They wouldn't need a C and we wouldn't need Blake.

Yeah.. With Lopez is the only way I do Bynum for Deron.. We also need to shed more salary if we're keeping Pau so they'd have to take Blake. Wouldn't mind swapping Metta for S&T Gerald Green to a smaller deal also.. I think Pau & Lopez is good enough with Deron & Kobe.. Especially if we can bring LO back to play his old role next to Pau in important stretches..

NO, Dall wants Deron get that straight. Deron hasn't said squat bout wanting to go to Dall, all that dall stuff is speculations from reporters. Dall is in no shape to be contenders either even with Deron, their core is getting no better than ours and getting swept in the 1st rd doesn't bode well for them.

So you're saying if they trade for that pick, there's a 67% chance it will be a bust.

Deron Williams - G - Nets CBS' Ken Berger wrote on Tuesday that the Dallas Mavericks fear that Deron Williams is leaning toward returning to the Nets next season.
Free agency begins on Sunday morning, so we should soon have answers on where Williams will play next season. It sounds like he's narrowed his choices down to Dallas and Brooklyn, and based on this latest report, it looks like the Nets are winning the race for his services.

A source close to Nets point guard Deron Williams said Houston is not likely to be added to his free-agent wish list even if the Rockets get Howard. Williams is focused on the Nets or his hometown team in Dallas, though he is known to be open to joining the Lakers if they were able to pull off a sign-and-trade with Brooklyn.

Lakers Recieve:

Deron Williams (18 million)
Dwight Howard (18 million)

Total: About 36 million

Nets Recieve:

Andrew Bynum (15 million)
Ryan Andersen (10 million)
Ramon Sessions (5 million)
JJ Redick (6 million)

Total About: 36 million

Magic Recieve:

Pau Gasol (19 million)
Brook Lopez (12 million)
Anthony Morrow (4 million)

Total About: 35 million

Salaries match. Seems like a solid trade for all 3 involved.

Lakers lineup: Deron/Kobe/MWP/Hill/Dwight

Nets lineup: Sessions/Brooks/Andersen/LO's BFF/Drew

Magic lineup: Nelson/Richardson/Turkoglu/Pau/Lopez

I like it minus Hill, he's not a good fit next to Dwight, would like to see us throw mini MLE at Jamison 1st then Vet min to Lewis if all else fails. Than hope Odom does comes through for us in Dec or best case scenario Beasly trae still goes through and he starts at PF and we wait on Odom.
So Deron/Kobe/Mwp/Jamison/Dwight with Beasly or Odom off the bench, worse case Deron/Kobe/Mwp/Lewis/Dwight

Even if for a minute believed we could make those two trades..... we'd still have a horrific bench and a player in Howard coming off disk surgery.....

If I were in the front office I'd not even try to make a move for Howard until he proves his back isn't going to be chronic... A bid with a bad back is worse than a big with a bad knee..... Especially when the one with the back issue is on a max contract and the one with the bad knee is expiring.....

When you've got Deron, Bryant, and Howard you can get by with a bad bench. Miami had one of the worst benches in the league this season and they just won a championship. Why? Superstars.

Miami's bench and supporting players are better than ours....... not that close either IMO.... they have shooters and balance..... Dwight, if healthy, would never get a clean look with MWP as the "shooter" opposite..... Same issues we have with Bynum right now.... We'd be better.... but not enough better without some significant upgrades to the SF and bench...

We'd still have the mini MLE and the TPE to get a solid role player or two. Plus I'm sure there would be others who would accept the vets minimum to get a chance to play with three stars.

Houston - Pau / Blake

Lakers - Deron / Dalembert / Lopez / Martin / 14 / 16

Brooklyn - Bynum / Sessions (S&T)

Trade Kevin Martin to Utah for Paul Millsap (Utah needs a perimeter scorer)

Draft PJ3 (14) and Terrence Ross (16)
TPE for Beasley
Nate Rob with the Mini-MLE
Dump McFly for 2nd rounder......draft Kevin Jones

Deron / Nate Rob
Kobe / Terrence Ross / Glock
MWP / Beasley / Eyenga
Millsap / PJ3 / Jones
Lopez / Dalembert

We have a solid starting 5 and a solid bench. Dalembert / Millsap /PJ3 can cover Lopez's inability to board correctly.

Guys.

Deron doesn't want LA. He was just playin' us so that his agent could get better offers from the Nets and Mavs.
