Deron Williams Trade Discussion (Resigning w/Brooklyn)

I've always maintained that he was only interested in those two destinations.... NJ can sign him for a longer guarantee than Dallas.... I'll bet that wins out because at this point both team aren't going anywhere.... so his decision is more guaranteed money or "Home" ....

I'm confident that Dwight will end up in NJ with him.... He's got all of the leverage and he's proven he can be disturbing influence on a team..... Nelson just gave up 5 or 6 million just to get away from him.... Orlando will have to do something quick before he runs anyone else out of town...

^ Actually Jameer gave up 8 million. He must of really wanted to get out there. :man10:

Can't say I blame him. Anyways Dwight will probably end up in Brooklyn unless the Lakers get Smith and entice him to resign with L.A. If Dwight goes to Brooklyn it won't be till next offseason because Brooklyn has nothing to offer in a trade.

I was ahead of you there...... I was subtracting his FA salary he'll get this year from the 8 million he left on the table..... :man12:

I'm not so sure that Howard won't go there this year.... He has leverage and NJ has Lopez, Crash, Morrow and Mr. Kardashian number two that have value around the league.... they may surprise us yet... It just may mean that Orlando gets rid of bad contracts and gets Lopez... a couple other serviceable players and cap relief in the form a TPE.... Those are becoming gold in today's NBA anyway.....

Brooklyn and Atlanta are engaged in talks on a possible Joe Johnson trade, sources tell Y! Nets plan would be to pair with Deron Williams.

Danny Ferry wins GM of the year if he pulls that off. :man4:

Could it be part of a larger trade for Dwight?.... Maybe JJ goes to Orlando along with Lopez and other considerations.... Otherwise it doesn't make any sense at all unless Johnson is a huge expiring next year..... Is he?...

^^^Exactly what I was thinking; however to answer your question, Joe Johnson's contract runs through 2015/2016. There is something else to this; if not, what is New Jersey thinking?

You guys are delusional. Deron is going to either New Jersey or Dallas. He hates the Lakers. He hates Kobe. No way he is coming to LA. He don't wanna be a Laker. He is just playing us pretending that his sources are saying Lakers are a possibility. Wake up! He and us agent are just playin us trying to work a better deal from NJ or Dallas.

Take a look at the moves they've made so far. They aren't thinking. Idiots are running that team.

I really think Deron is the only real chance the Lakers have to get back into the top tier of teams (along with MIA and OKC). But I just don't see any way it can happen. If Deron doesn't sign with the Nets by the trade deadline, the Nets will probably cave and sign-and-trade him to the Mavs rather than get nothing for him. If the Nets play hardball and think even if Deron becomes a free agent he will still re-sign with them because they can offer him a better deal then Deron will either re-sign or go to the Mavs. Since those are really the only two scenarios I can see happening, I don't know how the Lakers would be able to convince NJ to trade him to L.A. and that's the only possibility there is. So sad. Damn you Stern, you antichrist.

Not realistically. He doens't want to go to Lakers anyway. RT @MeloMakers24: Can the lakers trade and amnesty somebody to sign D-Will?

Well.... earlier in this tread I was jumped on for saying that Deron doesn't want to come here because "it wasn't a credible source".... Is this credible enough?

1) He actually understands the CBA. He wrote the CBAFAQ, which is basically the bible that anybody who wants to have a serious discussion about trades must learn and follow. http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm

2) FO staff of NBA teams actually call him up and ask him questions about the CBA, so he has connections with many different NBA ballclubs. Yes, there are FO staff members of NBA ballclubs who actually call him for info on how the CBA is supposed to work. That's how complicated the CBA is.

3) And unlike other beat reporters, he actually has a day job as a the director of the IT department at the University of Irvine. So if he thinks a rumor doesn't have "legs", he doesn't have to sell out and report it.

Which makes him more credible than your "average joe" beat reporter.

im not sure hes in the business of breaking stories. more on whats realistic and what can actually work. factor in all the scenarios has works out, hes going to factor in things he hears from other reporters or from teams hes actually talked to.

he doesnt break stories because he chooses not to. leave that to yahoo and espn.

I'd love to know Deron had a change of heart, but last time I heard, he hated the Lakers.

Don't see why anyone thinks that has changed.
