Gary Payton does not want to commit to Lakers

On KJR Sports radio in Seattle they just said that Payton will not commit with the Lakers today and that he is still talking to his agent about different possibilities.

Supposedly, the Lakers are waiting for an answer from him today calling him the "key domino" that can set off a chain reaction of key signings and trades. But Payton refuses to give that commitment.

It was also said that Payton is waiting to see if his agent can work a sign and trade between the Portland Trailblazers and Milwaukee Bucks because Gary would prefer to stay in the Pacific Northwest.

Come one, if you're gonna sign, just sign! If not atleast let us have time to look at other FAs!!!!

Didn't Gary already rule out Milwaukee? I think he's just straight up playing with us now...and can the Blazers would be in even more hell with Gary, too many egos (L.A times 5). I don't think he'll go there. Then he said Miami, and he prefers it in the Pacific Northwest, so it's L.A or Portland...

I think its a bad idea to have that many egos on a team.All 4 of them would not fit on the Lakers.The team would implode.......

See, I totally can see where you think this, it makes sense. The Lakers could turn into a Portland right? All the talent in the world but no way to get to the next level.

But here is why I don't agree with what you said as far as my side on the idea...

Phil Jackson - Phil has coached some of the greatest players to step foot on the court. He dealt with getting a dominant center to play with a uprising guard. He has coached the biggest nutcase in the NBA (Rodman) and has placed role players into their role.

My point being, if and when Malone and Payton enter the door, their egos will be in check. They won't come to the Lakers to have ego problems. They will come to learn the triangle (biggest problem) and they will play together to get what they came for.

Not to mention there will always be veteran leadership and scoring on the court at the same time. There will be no chemistry problem only and simply because of Phil. Now if it were ANY OTHER coach in the NBA, I would most def. agree with you and say there would be a chemistry issue. But not with Phil...

And that's why this Laker team wouldn't collapse...

I dont know what it is.I just have a bad feeling about this mix.

Hey wassup everyone...you all need to relax because I believe that payton will sign with L.A.. I believe that he will come with malone, think about it, malone is taking a huge cut for payton to sign with the lakers. So I would chill for now and see whats up. Isn't it crazy!!!!
