Get Garnett? (Not happening - resigns with Cs)

He may be able to play at that level for 30 minutes but it would be dangerous to count on that for an 82 game season and expect more in the playoffs. There is a reason that an old Boston and an old SA got this far in the playoffs.... their old guys didn't have to carry them for an 82 game season and then into the playoffs. Add another 20 games to the season and neither might have made it as far as they did.

Remember he will be 37 when the playoffs come around next year.... I'd love to have Garnett either in the starting line up or as a rotational back-up center/PF for up to 28 minutes a game..... he would be the best bench big we've had since McAdoo..... and that includes Odom... who... as we all know... didn't bring it every night.

Odom did bring it every night, I Agree With the other He is an All Star Type Player still but I Do Agree with you as well I think We'll get Him and He can get 28 like you said but as a starter in my opinion, We got Karl Malone at 38 I think it was.. lol we always finally get great players who've played great against us near the end of their careers... lol

There is a good chance Kevin Garnett will re-sign with the Boston Celtics, however it won't happen if team president Danny Ainge decides on a rebuilding gameplan.

"Kevin's very loyal, and he hates change," a source tells the Boston Herald. "But I think it'd be hard for him to come back if it's a total rebuild. If he's going to play, he has to be playing for something. I think he'll wait to see what's going to happen."

The Celtics can have a significant amount of room under the salary cap but that means the team will have to renounce their free agents, including Garnett and Ray Allen, or sign them to low-dollar deals.

According to the newspaper, the source says Garnett may have a difficult time if he takes a major pay cut which leads to a free agent getting a large deal.

If Ainge blows the team up, KG might be out of there. I would to, being a vet. with 1 or 2 at the most good years left in my legs, I want a chance for a ring, not to watch a team get dismantled.

agreed, saw some "anlyst" suggest Orl pony up $20mill over 2 yrs for KG to make that push for Dwight to stay :man10:

but we do have 2 sellings point for him, with him and a few more pieces he would still be playing for a ring and 2ndly he lives in Socal in off-season.

Kevin Garnett remains silent on his plans for free agency, but most around the league think he will re-sign with the Boston Celtics, if he agrees to take a significant pay cut. What would be a fair offer?

From The Boston Globe: "Celtics broadcaster Mike Gorman told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich show Tuesday he thought Garnett could return for $12-13 million [next] season, or on a two-year deal for around $20 million."

Garnett made over $21 million for the 2011-12 season and the Celtics need to deal with him first before they can determine how much money they have under the salary cap for 2012-13. Ray Allen and Jeff Green also carry big cap holds and they will come next.

Owner Wyc Grousbeck did a Q&A with the Boston Herald and was asked about the uncertainty around Garnett and said: "Whether (Garnett) comes back or not, you're going to have to go through another cultural change. The face of the franchise in the next year or two is going to change dramatically. How are you prepared for that, and how do you approach it? The way we've approached since the beginning, when we named this company Banner 17, was that it wasn't about division titles or anything else like that. We want to get Banner 18, and that drives everything."

We are 11 days from July 1 and Garnett will talk to Danny Ainge, Doc Rivers and Grousbeck before that day about his plans for the future, which might include retiring.

actually based on how far Bos got, I would not be shocked if he stayed with Bos. They have 2 1st rd picks, big cap space and they were playing w/o Avery who I guess based on Bos homers and some analyst is a premier perimiter defender. If Allen was consistent and didn't have injury issues I think they could've beaten Mia. So with that said Bos, IMO is at better position than we are right now with the assest they have and the cap room they have.

^^^ That is absolutely true....

They need a center, that should be at the top of their priority list. Let's say they can get Kaman in free agency and resign KG/Bass/Pietrus.

Add in two first round picks and some coaxing to bring back Allen for a fair price. They would have no problem in fielding a contender in the East.

Bradley / Allen
Pierce / Pietrus
KG / Bass / Johnson
Kaman / Stiemsma

Add in two first round picks to fill out that roster and they have a pretty good team.

Yeah, but still not good enough to beat Miami. Let's be real if Chris Bosh was healthy Miami would've won the ECF rather easily. Ray Allen isn't coming back. He has a strained relationship with Rajon Rondo probably with Doc Rivers as well for benching him. He's gonna wanna be a starter on a championship caliber team. Miami still needs a center so I think they'll go after Kaman as well. If you're Kaman would you rather sign with an aging team that is likely to be blown up or the probable defending champions? Obviously Miami. I also don't see how they're in a better position than the Lakers. Yeah they made it further than us, but only because they played in a cupcake conference. They probably would've lost to Denver in the 1st round. If not them they would've gotten swept by Oklahoma City. They've got cap space, but no one wants to go there. The Lakers don't have cap space, but they do have two trade assets in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum that they can use to bring in a star or two.

Ok if Chris Bosh was healthy.....then if Ray Allen was healthy, if Avery Bradley was healthy, if Paul Pierce was 100% they would have been in the finals right now. It doesn't work that though...ask Kendrick Perkins and Doc Rivers after we beat them for a ring.

So Miami is going to offer Chris Kaman the mini-MLE over the 9-10 million he can get from Boston and Kaman is going to choose Miami. LOL not happening.

Well Boston isn't changing conferences anytime soon so I guess they are stuck in the cupcake league, where with that team they would be the number 2 team in the East and more than likely back in the ECF.

They are way under the cap, we are way over the cap
They have 2 first round picks, we have pick #60
They have flexibility to make moves, we have either Pau or Bynum getting traded.

Your post is filled with hypothetical what ifs....

Bottom line....they have cap space, they have draft picks, they play in a weak conference, they still have Rondo/Pierce and soon to be KG/Bass, they are in a better position then us.
