What I saw out of Garnet was that he's a 24 minute a game player at this point... if he's willing to take a spot on someone's bench and be a "contributor" rather than a center piece then he's a valuable acquisition.
I don't know if that's in him though.... or any previously great player....
Not sure which Garnett you were watching he averaged 20 & 10 in the postseason. He's still an All Star caliber player and certainly not a bench player.
I watched the one that ran out of gas on a nightly basis in the playoffs.... His rebounding was non-existent at times and he defense was only good in stretches. He got those numbers but in 12 less minutes he would get nearly the same and be much more effective IMO. He may be able to play at that level for 30 minutes but it would be dangerous to count on that for an 82 game season and expect more in the playoffs. There is a reason that an old Boston and an old SA got this far in the playoffs.... their old guys didn't have to carry them for an 82 game season and then into the playoffs. Add another 20 games to the season and neither might have made it as far as they did.
Remember he will be 37 when the playoffs come around next year.... I'd love to have Garnett either in the starting line up or as a rotational back-up center/PF for up to 28 minutes a game..... he would be the best bench big we've had since McAdoo..... and that includes Odom... who... as we all know... didn't bring it every night.

but we do have 2 sellings point for him, with him and a few more pieces he would still be playing for a ring and 2ndly he lives in Socal in off-season.
