KG, a great player, just doesn't fit that direction of the team we need to go in; however, I'm not Mitch, and if he's cheap enough, the FO might just sign him...

I think he's right, anyone who thinks Kobe has more then 2 years at a high level is not seeing things clearly to put it lightly. Not saying he's retiring, but unless he is ok with being the 2nd or 3rd option in a few years, then he won't be around for long. I'm gonna enjoy every game he plays. Greats like him are rare.

KG for the mini-MLE would be an absolute steal. I really doubt that's going to happen though.

Forget his stats.. His screens & defense are exactly what this team needs next to Drew.

Agreed. I just don't see a reason for him to come here? If he's chasing a ring, he would be better suited to do it somewhere else. The only way I see the Lakers making a play for him is if they move Gasol for better pieces FIRST. Then make the pitch to KG that we're contenders with Kobe on the team. Finish off his career here bringing that defensive attitude and douchebaggery that we kind of need.

If the Lakers move Gasol/McRoberts/1st for something like Lowry/Martin/Scola then I see Garnett having some interest, but other than that I don't see it. Bring back Hill and Ebanks, let Sessions walk if he wants to.

Lowry/Blake
Bryant/Martin/Goudelock
Artest/Ebanks(?)
Garnett/Scola
Bynum/Hill

Not a bad team there. I think we'd need to work on our transition game a lot though. Still a pretty slow team from top to bottom.

I don't know. I think he's going all out this season since he knows the clock is ticking but I can't imagine him playing at this level for much longer, if we're lucky he can do it again next season. But for the right price it may be worth it.

He wouldn't have to be as dominant for us offensively because we'll be a better team than the current Boston roster. As long as he can play good/great defense and set some hard screens, I'd be more than happy. Remember if Pau does go out in a trade hopefully we'll have some offensive talent coming in.

That old man put up 16 / 8 / 3 this regular season and elevated his game to 20 / 11 / 2 in the playoffs. All while bringing it defensively.

I think that comment is confirmation that most Lakers fans don't watch non Lakers games.

KG fits Bynum so perfectly. what a frontline we'd have defensively

Would be a huge steal for the mini MLE as we would be able to trade Pau for depth without being concerned about getting a PF back.

As for KG current level , he wouldn't be able to replicate it in the Conf West which is loaded with the best PFs .

:man10: People here don't want KG? Sorry, but i'm sick of watching Pau's soft ***. KG is still elite from midrange, and still might be the best defender in the league. Pau and Bynum get punked on the pick and roll all day every day, and it would be a breathe of fresh air to see someone like KG come in here and show us how it's done.

Sign me up. I don't care how douchey he is.

If we're going to have a past-his-prime PF starting for us as a 3rd option, KG would make more sense than Pau.

Kobe just averaged 28, 5, and 5 at 33 years old. I don't see any reason he can't continue playing at a superstar level beyond 2014.

Half-court offense is not efficient. Not one guy shot 50% from the field during the playoffs. And even during the regular-season only one guy shot 50%. This isn’t an efficient offensive system. It’s a grind.

Hm I would do it. But we should stop throwing away 1st rounds picks in those Houston trades ... somewhere down the line we'll have to get some younger talent. 2nd round picks don't do that.

As to KG -> Hell yes!!!
As to Lamar -> if he waits out until December, do it!

2 years at most anyway. Mini-MLE at most anyway. Low risk. Garnett has done well at staying healthy. If Brown ever has the balls to limit minutes over the course of the season like Pop does, he could have both Kobe and Garnett healthy for the playoffs.

LO, thanks but no thanks, the man is finished. Can't believe Brown is that interested in him. Further, I don't believe the Lakers want to wait around until December. Takes away the training camp. Brown will want the roster settled by opening day of fall training camp.
I shall be telling this with a sigh

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

IF mgmt is able to get KG and/or Odom, would anyone be against sending Bynum for Deron/fillers if NJ was interested? I say we could live with a KG/Pau or Odom/Pau combo again. IF we do not upgrade the PG spot with either Bynum or Pau it would be mute to get KG.

I don't think the front office is giving up on Bynum yet. Eric Pincus made a couple references to it yesterday in his "chat". It's Pau that will be traded unless there are no takers that will give us a decent sized TPE....

not giving up, its not like we would be dumping him for scraps like Pau, lets be honest how many team out there can afford to trade for 32yr old making 19mill/yr for the next 2 years? We'd be getting pennies on the dollar, worse than the return on Shaq.
