Get Garnett? (Not happening - resigns with Cs)

Really? I always thought the player being sign & traded had to be the only outgoing player. If that's the case we have a lot more options than I thought we did.

Without guards to set up our bigs, it is no difference which player we get indeed.

I'm not a fan of KG in the least. He's a jackass, a tool, dirty, and annoying. Screaming at anything, talking to himself, blocking shots during timeouts or before FTs...he's made it very easy to root against him since he left Minnesota. All that said, I'd gladly welcome him to the Lakers. We've opened the doors to players we never thought we'd bring in in a million years (Malone), I wouldn't expect my opinion to take a 180 degree turn like it did with Malone when he was here, but he still be just what the doctor ordered. He doesn't have many years left, but he's still playing at an elite level. If we could nab him on the cheap for two years (second probably being an optional year), I think he would really help during our closing window to get another ring or two before Kobe hangs them up. I agree that I only think he considers LA if Boston breaks up the team and if Pau is gone. He'd do wonders for toughness, accountability, and frontcourt D. Imagine Drew, KG, Kobe, and Ron on D...that's a nightmare for 29 teams.

KG's a major jerk and if he's not on the Lakers, then I'll always despise him. However, you gotta love his heart and desire, especially after watching Gasol's and Bynum's countless apathetic performances.

Only way, there's even a remote chance of him coming here is if Ainge decides to break up the team, which I don't really see happening since they're every bit a match for the Heat. Also, KG is extremely loyal, that's why he was wasting away in Min for so many years.

He'll never play for the Lakers. Deal with it already. He's retiring a Celtic.

With their exit how do you think Garnett's future plays out?

What I saw out of Garnet was that he's a 24 minute a game player at this point... if he's willing to take a spot on someone's bench and be a "contributor" rather than a center piece then he's a valuable acquisition.

I don't know if that's in him though.... or any previously great player....

I think KG signs for the Mini MLE. I know he is worth more but he will win here. Putting he and Kobe together even at this age would be a huge boost for the mentality of our team. If we can sign KG I would be happy trading Gasol to Minnesota for Derrick Williams, Beasley a future pick or Barea. Then we could pursue Nash with the TPE.

He's always been a loyal guy. Can't see him chasing rings at this point in his career. He'd rather cement his legacy as being a Boston Celtic even though they're going nowhere from here on out.

I think the Lakers could convince him to come if they made moves that looked like they were contenders. Moving Gasol for some great pieces and make room for Garnett, I think we can convince him to come here.

I think Boston cuts ties with him unless he's willing to sign there for cheap. He's certainly earned money and interest with his play this post season.

Well to be fair, the Celtics got further than we did in the playoffs. I think a lot will depend on what Boston does from here. I think Garnett will look for a ring and if it looks like Boston isn't preparing for that then I wouldn't be surprised if he left.

^After that memorable show of support from their fans in the closing minutes of Game 6, Garnett was touched by it. Sure, it comes down to the almighty dollar but I don't think he's going anywhere unless it is retirement. Even that is a remote possibility...

He might if it’s via sign and trade; ie. Gasol for Garnett. But, would you still want KG at $20 mil?

Kevin Garnett or Steven A. Smith? KG wouldn’t waive his trade bonus to come here in 2005.

Not sure which Garnett you were watching he averaged 20 & 10 in the postseason. He's still an All Star caliber player and certainly not a bench player.
