Bird gave up coaching billions of years ago. He wasn't even sure if he wanted to stay in his GM position with Indy. I don't see him putting up with Jim Buss either. So yes, the idea is insane. :man12:
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

he was a GM, Gm don't go backwards and become a coach unless they suck big time like McFail and Kiki who got demoted :man10:

Well it has happened before, Bill Sharman, Rick Fox and Brian Shaw were involved with those guys before joining the Lakers.

We have a coach. The owner says he did a "fantastic job". They are not going to make a coaching change this year.
