Josh Smith Thread - Possible trade?

Josh Smith Thread - Possible trade?

Postby Kubbas on Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:29 am

The Los Angeles Lakers have had internal discussions for several months about acquiring Josh Smith from the Atlanta Hawks, according to sources.

Sources say, however, that the Hawks have no interest in trading Smith for a package centered around Pau Gasol.

Smith is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

For the Lakers, trading Gasol for Smith would allow the team to get younger and more athletic. Moreover, Smith is one of Dwight Howard's closest friends in the NBA.

Internal discussions?
Jimmy - "you know it would be cool if we could get Josh since he's Dwight's bud"
Mitch - "how many miracles can one man not named Jesus produce? I need a raise"

Would just have to be a 3 team -- Minny or Houston, if they still want gasol.

Atlanta likley to lose Smith for nothing. Maybe they send him with Korver or another piece and take Mike Williams and Peckovic or Barea. Too bad that Buddinger is hurt. So he can't be traded, right? Waiving a physical doesn't count in his case, does it?

Atl gets Mike Williams, pick from Minny, and another pice.
Lakers get Smith and Barea or Korver
Minny get Gasol (him, Love, Peck, and the Russian would be a solid front court)

I would like this. Lakers could then buy out Clark and sign Kenyon. Release DJO and sign Pietrus.
