Kobe No Trade Clause Removed????

Could the Lakers be trying to move Kobe and do a total rebuild??? I know this is probably just wild speculation and inuendo (and totally untrue) but it's something scary to think about...

That makes no sense he could simply agree to waive that clause and agree to a trade if he wished.

Kobe cannot be traded. A team would have to trade like 5 or 6 players to match his salary lol, we could not take back that many players. Either that or a team would have to give up it's star player and a few throw ins, or 2 star players, just isn't happening.

I doubt it's true, but if it is, I could see Kobe doing that as a sort of message to the team. As in, "See, I have just as little security as the rest of you guys so let's stop worrying about trade rumors and win basketball games." Now obviously, there's no way LA would actually trade him, but it might mean something to the rest of the team.

Right - the mega-TV deal was all premised upong the Lakers rebuilding with no real super stars on the team?

Not to mention, Kobe's contract is un-tradeable, regardless of his clause. And any team he went to would be looted of all talent, thus he would not allow it (even without a no-trade clause, no team will take him if he isn't willing to go there).

So -- NO. Not scary to think about at all.

THE ONLY WAY Kobe plays on another team during this contract is if he is amnestied (by his own choice), and goes to Chicago to play with Rose, or the Clips to play with CP3 and Blake, whereby he signs for the minumum because the Lakers are still paying his contract.

Kobe is untradable. His contract is so big you would have to have multiple teams involved, and like 30 players moved.

PS - I would urge anyone reading this post to make an estimation as to the veracity of any inference that I comprehend both the form and function of a no trade clause.
