Lakers interested in Goran Dragic

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/sam_amick/07/02/nba-free-agency-steve-nash-dwight-howard-deron-williams/index.html

A source close to unrestricted free agent point guard Goran Dragic said the Raptors, Suns, Nets, Hornets, Lakers and Rockets have all expressed interest thus far. The Rockets, for whom Dragic shined in the second half of last season, are said to be coming on the strongest. Yet Dragic, according to the source, has a serious interest in being part of a winning team and will consider that factor as much as the money.

But...

While we're on the topic, league sources say free-agent PG Goran Dragic also is looking for a deal that starts in the $10M range.

We're interested in everyone apparently, especially those 7 million or so outside our price range.

Lol.. They just throw Lakers at the end of any report & get more traffic..

But I would prefer Dragic to Lowry.. If he gets 10M they can't make us take Scola back either, so that's good.. Dragic, Martin, White, Patterson for Pau, Blake.. :man8:

Every writer and agent throws "Lakers" into the discussion, no matter how far-fetched it is.

I don't care if they are serious or not when the Lakers are on their list, I am taking this at face value of we are trying to talk to people, be happy and excited, and then see what really happens to our team when the dust settles. I think all of this is worth it and I am glad they are trying to get people for the Bench and to help Kobe, be good to see who really ends up coming here.

I really like Dragic's game, and he could be S&T for the TPE. It wouldn't be $10m, but it could be close enough. It might be overpaying for him though. Not sure.

Scoring Efficiency: 5.7 (5.2 average PG)
Passing Efficiency: 3.9 (3.7 average PG)
Hustle Efficiency: 2.6 (2.2 average PG)
Offensive Efficiency: 87 (72 average PG)

Jameer Nelson has similar numbers and he is available for less than the 10mil that Dragic wants.

Dragic is 26 and he's developing into a top 2nd tier PG (15 pts 6-7 ast kinda guy)

Nelson's 30 and he put up same stats this season avging 30 mins to Dragic's 26 but bare in mind Nelson played with Howard (open looks and easy assists).

Nelson playing with Dwight during that debacle last year did not help Nelson's stats in any way.

just like playing with Kobe doesn't make Artest better. Or playing with Lebron and Wade doesn't make Chalmers better. Or playing with Chris Paul doesn't make Griffin better.

must be some weird trend in Hou but they have had 3 PG who emerged only to get detroned just as quickly, 1st it was Brooks taking over, then he gets hurt and Lowrly shines then he gets hurt and Dragic shines. Just a lil cautious of these 1 yr producers i.e. Lin/Dragic, I have a sinking feeling they wont be as good as stats indicate.

I like Dragic's game but if he's asking 10M a year I guess I'll have to like watching him play for someone else.

As for us contacting him..... seems to be NBA Agent 101 to drop the Lakers in every negotiating ploy...... Why would we contact a player in free agency that want's 10M when we supposedly had a chance to trade for him at 4M but turned it down?.....

LOL, I know, right? Perhaps they should have lowered max salaries. That's one way to "even" the playing field for everyone, or is Stern afraid his money-making entertainers will head to Europe. :freak2: I think C.B.A. stands for the Cheat Buss Agreement!

Well, not quite. His passing number is the same. His scoring is worse. His hustle is way worse. His overall rating isn't close.

2009/10:
Scoring: 5.6
Passing: 3.9
Hustle: 2.0
Offensive Efficiency: 79

2010/2011:
Scoring: 5.4
Passing: 3.9
Hustle: 1.9
Offensive Efficiency: 75

2011/2012
Scoring: 5.4 (PG average was 5.2)
Passing: 3.9 (PG average was 3.7)
Hustle: 1.9 (PG average was 2.2)
Offensive Efficiency: 75

For the record, LA doesn't get Jameer for cheap and they don't get Dragic for cheap. They likely end up having to S&T. One is 30; one is 26.

Now, if it's Dragic at $9M (which we can do with TPE) or Nelson at mini-MLE, I'll take Nelson.

If we could land Dragic, and trade Bynum for Howard, I could be a dream summer for me. See the following lineup:

Howard
Pau
MWP
Kobe
Dragic

It would be perfect if we could land someone like Courtney Lee and Diaw:

Howard
Pau/Diaw
MWP/Ebanks
Kobe/Lee
Dragic/Blake

I don't want Howard. I don't understand how he and Gasol will work when Gasol and another close to the bucket center can't work it out. Other than that, Dragic would be a nice pickup for us (probably not at that price though). And Diaw seems likely to re-sign in San Antonio.

Mitch and Jim's big off-season signing will be re-upping Sessions. That's it. Aside from a minor swap or two, norhing else is gonna happen or change very much until Kobe's contract expires.

god i really dont get why people still want howard in LA. have you guys not been paying attention? the guy is a cancer, and he DOES NOT want to play in LA. ship gasol to minny for that williams-beasley deal, dump blake, and sign dragic. now that is one amazing offseason if you ask me
