I'll never understand why some fans think you can just plug this guy into this spot and it doesn't matter. After 16 years in the league Kobe is gonna switch to SF b/c hey...it's no big deal. There is more to basketball than simply plugging in what you think the best lineup is.

Because he ALREADY plays SF often. Last few years not so much because the team had a glut at SF but Phil regularly ran Fish, Sasha, Kobe, Lamar & Gasol to close games. SG/SF is interchangeable in the NBA for most teams. Not unlike MJ moving to SF in Washington. As Kobe slows down he is probably better suited to guard most SF in the league anyways. There are exceptions but Kobe is usually cross-matched with the other teams SF as well. This isn't a SG moving to PG it is a wing player playing one of the two wing positions.

According to an NBA executive the Suns sound like the team to beat for OJ Mayo. Exec said "Mayo would fit in well ... http://sulia.com/c/new-york-kni

I think Mayo would fit nicely on our bench but he'd be stupid to pass up more years and more money to do it..... that's why I'm dubious at best that his connection to the Lakers is anything other than a "leverage" move on the part of his agent.....

No it's not.

Says you...please source this properly.

Who on AM 570 said this?
Who was the information sourced to?
Why are there no secondary sources?

Were these questions ever answered? This seems like a wild rumor with little to no substance, and it really doesn't make much sense at all. I highly doubt Mayo ends up on the Lakers, and I doubt the Lakers are seriously interested since he's likely seeking a large contract which would make him a very expensive backup to Kobe.

Well Snoop Dog also aluded to it a few weeks ago.

We all know celebrities hang in the same circles so he's probably been talking to Jeff Goldbloom :man1:

OJ Mayo came to town but Suns made no contract offer. He wants 8 mill + a year and for Phx to be interested that price has to come down.

And we are listed as interested?........Righttttttt

$8M for mayo is a joke.

he's at tops a $5M a year player. he's better than what we got, but he doesn't do much that helps this team out.

terrible ball handler, decent defender, not sure what he shot from 3 last year, but his offensive game isn't very versatile.

Somewhere between 6 and 8 Mil a year sounds about right for Mayo based on what similar players get in this league....

He's sure worth a lot more than what we can offers short of a sign and trade with Memphis.... that much is for sure..

$8m for Mayo on this team? Have fun in Phoenix. They won't give you $8m, but they'll offer a lot closer than we would pay, even in a S&T.

I don't, because, you know, he's a scrub. He's been one all his nba career.

Scrubs are the bums we had on our bench last season. Mayo is a very solid player.

Phoenix just picked up Scola for a little over 3 million per for 3 years. So I doubt that they will spend more than $6 million per for Mayo. they would probably rather pick up Shannon again for half that.

Mcbobs, Ebanks, and a 2nd round pick for Mayo -- 4 years, 5.5 million, 3rd and 4th player options. That should do it.

Blake to the Blazers for a TPE in return (possible?)

Then sign and trade Jordan Hill and Eyenga to GS for Brandon Rush (a little over 4 million per). Sign Jamison for minimum (if possible). Great 8 man rotation for the playoffs. Sprinkle in Morris, DJO, Turiaf (for 3-5 minutes per game during the season). and another vet min player (Nate, Sasha, McGrady, Pietrus), and this team is set -- with plenty to keep Bynum, Kobe, Nash, and Gasol at 31-34 minutes per game.

Playoff rotation

Nash, Mayo
Kobe, Mayo, Rush
Artest, Rush, Kobe
Gasol, Jamison
Bynum, Gasol

Perfect for offensive and defensive balance

This

Has anyone looked at our bench lately? We have no scorers and everyone outside of Jordan Hill (if he comes back) and Ebanks (sorta) sucks balls.

Lotta players out there that haven't been as productive as he's been getting paid around that.... I'll bet he gets over 5 and probably closer to the 8 than most think.....

I don't think there's a chance in Hades that he signs for our Mini MLE unless he really want's to play here... in which case why even stop in Phoenix?....

Well considering that you have guys like Lopez and Hibbert getting max money it's not out of the realm of possibility that Mayo gets 8 million. There's alot of stupid GM's out there. Lucky for us Mitch isn't one of them.
