Mike Brown is the problem....that's plain to see to me. I saw the Association and NBA unscripted where they followed the 2009/10 & 2011/121 Lakers and man do I miss Phil Jackson!

Time for a name change? I was thinking maybe fkMikeBrown.

But jesus man, as someone else already said, I could at least squeeze out 2 wins coaching this team the last 9 games.
Every time I begin to ask, "Is he really as great as I think he is?" ...He proves that he is.
Every time I begin to wonder...He proves it...That is why I won't lose hope in him.
You know who I am talking about.

Exactly.

Brown has failed to get the team ready to play.

How long is the FO going to let this clown tinker with this franchise?

Ok he's a mediocre coach, and I wouldn't care if he got fired but not because of this game alone. They tried to stick with the offense until the end of the game, but it obviously didn't work. Second game with the starting 5 and they are taking way too long to set up the offense which is a clear sign that they aren't comfortable with timing and where guys will be. These are the things that take time.

If the Lakers still look like garbage after 20 games (as in like 6-14 or something) I think Brown gets fired though.

This point is spot on... anyone defending Brown at this point (dating all the way back to last year actually) and the "chemistry" excuse, I don't buy.

Carlisle was pretty much handed a brand new Dallas roster (9 new players minus Dirk and Kaman!!!). He got a bunch of scrubs to play their butts off. Their PG absolutely destroyed us and had his way on offense. MB is turning Steve Nash into Derek Fisher right before our eyes.

When Shaq, Chuck, and Kenny all agree on something, i.e., that the Princeton offense is stupid, you know there's something to this.

the Princeton isn't the problem. Mike is. He shouldn't have his finger prints over it, that should be Eddie Jordan

It's not even that the Princeton is stupid ... it's that the guys weren't prepared. They didn't know what they were doing.

That's what's troubling and shows a lack of coaching on Mike Brown's part.

Brilliant analysis containing lots of facts. I don't deny that he's nowhere near the coach that PJ was, but to point the finger at him when it was a second effort and FT issue tonight is laughable. The only thing I continue to disagree with Brown on is his decision to play Tawn at the 3 while Devin rots on the bench. FWIW, even during our '09-'10 back-to-back run the Lakers got lazy at times, especially on D, so if one is going to criticize Brown and Brown alone for our guys not being motivated at that end of the floor then they'd be wise to harp on Phil for those very same things.

Brown isn't a HOF coach by any means, but again, to point fingers at him and him alone when it's clear that other issues (second efforts and FT shooting) are what primarily did us in is laughable.

They say teams adopt the personality of the head coach.

Phil was arrogant, confident, prepared, and calm. The team sleepwalked at times, but the end results are undeniable.

Mike Brown comes across as a neurotic, unconfident, incompetent, passive, turd. Did anyone catch the little mic'ed segment before the game? Coach Brown did not command any respect from any of the players. They seem to think he is a joke.

A head coach is not just about X's and O's, player rotations, and minute management. There has to be a certain relationship with the players, a confidence, a respect, and an ability to rally the troops. Mike Brown does not have this.

This missing piece CAN result in poor defensive focus and energy and poor focus and self confidence when shooting open jumpers or FTs. There is absolutely a psychology to coaching, which is what Phil was best at. Mike has plenty of coaches to do the X's and O's.

I guess all that time focusing on offense during the pre-season (WHICH LED TO NO PERCEIVABLE PROGRESS BTW) really hurt our defense.
My WMC's with Brown:
-"I'm a defensive specialist" -> Defense SUCKS.
-No perceivable progress on ANYTHING. It's only a MONTH later since training camp started.
-Waited 'till the 9:00 mark (down 13) to put Kobe back in, who was the only one with stuff going on O.
-Seems incapable of motivating players to play hard (a large part of it it's our players' fault, but he shares the blame too)
-Misuse of freaking Steve Nash & Dwight Howard.
-Overplayed Pau, in the first night of a back-to-back. 'Cause we all know just how energetic Pau is, right? No way he's fatigued for tomorrow night's game. :bang:
"The first time I ever saw my uniform hanging in the locker I put it on right away, and it just felt like I was putting on golden armour. From that day forward, I just called it 'the golden armour', it just felt like there was something mystical and magical about it" - Kobe Bryant.

Forget they had a whole preseason to prepare for the offense...what the F happened on the defensive side of the court? Mike is supposedly known to preach defense and create defensive schemes, but you had this Dallas run us off our new floor.

Also, didn't Mike Brown say that Steve can decide what to call when he takes it up court...so let Nash loose then. Here's a thought, let Nash run the offense in the game, while you run and get comfortable with the Princeton in practice. When everybody seems to know what they are doing and the ball doesn't stick, bust it out in a game and catch the whole league by surprise.

FT's we know are gonna be a problem with Dwight on the roster. I've conceded that'll be a lost cause all season long but there's way around this (survived Shaq for 3 chips)... but lack of preparedness??? Looking lost??? Carlisle got his new roster to play their butts off tonight. NINE BRAND NEW PLAYERS MINUS DIRK AND KAMAN and they looked well oiled. Just think about that for a second.

dallas seemed to do it just fine, on our court.

first you say the 0-8 preseason held no meaning because it's the pre-season and when we get to regular season games, they'll try. well, as far as i know we're in the regular season and the play on the court and final results are the same. so what's it gonna be now? they'll try hard when it's been 10 games? then 20? i can't really take you seriously anymore...not that i ever did.

Yeah he's clearly digging himself a bigger hole making statements like that. Or he needs to learn how to phrase his sentiments better.

The guys are clearly lost out there though, he needs to just say it will take some time before they feel comfortable.

But on top of that, Brown's now managed to screw up the X's and O's part too.

So . . .
