Mike Brown FIRED!!! (pg 126 via USA TODAY)

If they don't hire Phil after this, they'll have a massive PR disaster on their hands. The fans expect it as a natural consequence of a move like this.

Jimmy won't crap the bed after his dad pulled an end around and fired his hand picked coach.

When is Jerry going to realize that Jimmy needs to stay out of basketball matters. Ship him off to somewhere where he can't do any damage...like when Sonny shipped Fredo off to Vegas.

Posted this on the other thread but this scene was the first thing to pop in my mind when I heard the news.

Jimmy Kimmel asking Kobe about his back pain in an interview:
KB:I actually hurt it vacuuming.
JK: do you think your back is more sensitive from carrying the Lakers all season or.. ?

I'm extremely happy this happened now rather than later. My top choice would be Phil, followed by Sloan/JVG.

Well if Jerry was the guy to pull the plug, then there's really no shock to this cause the man is an excellent owner and runs his ship to the fans' liking.

However, I will give Jimmy some credit too. He knows he blew it again with this coaching hire and he could have put up more resistance but didn't want to continue to disappoint his pops. He indicated in a recent interview that all he really wants to do is make his dad proud. So I'm going to applaud the entire Buss family for this one...cause you know Jeanie also has an integral part in this as well. :man12:

Love this franchise. They say they're happy with the team and no need to make drastic changes and then pick up Nash and Howard in the summer. They say they're fully behind Mike Brown and he's canned the next day. Now we just need them to say they have no intention of winning the championship.

"On Friday morning at the Lakers' practice facility, Brown was meeting with his coaching staff to discuss the evening's home game against Golden State, when a Lakers employee interrupted and asked him to step out for a few minutes. Nearly 10 minutes later, Brown returned and informed his staff that he had been fired."

I will say.... this should put to rest ALL of the claims that the only reason Phil has been successful is because he had the players. MB is proof positive that even with players, you have to get them to play together and while he isn't 100% to blame for their inability to do so, he was a major, MAJOR reason for it.

He opens the door to his room as the butler brings in his breakfast and a newspaper. He sits down on his couch overlooking the city, opens the paper, and pauses as he brings a bite of scrambled eggs to his mouth. He reads "Lakers fall to Utah","Metta World Peace backup SG", and "Jodie Meeks DNP-CD".

He calmly picks up his phone, presses #6 and the send button. The call is picked up immediately,"Yes, father?"

Jerry-"Get him the f*** off of my team." And he hangs up.

I think it's a little premature to jump back into the Jim Buss hate. First of all, he has proven himself to be pretty apt as of late. Second, I'm guessing he could have kept Mike Brown on if he really fought for it. Clearly that didn't happen.

Awesome, realdeal!! Man, I am the happiest freaking camper in the world right now!! Jerry OBVIOUSLY said enough is enough with this garbage. Now this time around, I hope the decision making is made by Jerry and Mitch. Jimbo is the strikeout king when it's come down to coaching hires. He just cost the family a boatload of money, once again!
