I think Bickerstaff is overwhelmed. He was told that he was the coach TODAY. He didn't even wake up this morning knowing that he was the head coach. Mike was fired at the practice facility while they were preparing to go against the Warriors. I think he was like "Why couldn't you have told me this yesterday? Why today?"
"Every time he’s hurt, he always plays, he always comes through."

One more time for good measure:

I just want our new head coach to know that the plural for of multiple text messages is "texts" and not "Texas."

That is all.

Of course. RT @ramonashelburne: Source close to situation says PJax & D'Antoni are "neck and neck"

I'm nervous because I don't want Pringles and want Phil so bad

I hope they're only using Pringles as leverage.

If it's between those two, they BETTER pick Phil.

Still unsure as to where Sloan is in all of this, but if he's not in the running, I think the clear choice is Phil.

I just hope that for whatever reason Pringles does get the job instead of yelling at Mitch and or Jim we wait to see if Phil even wanted the job because he might have been #1 priority on the list.

That can't be true, in what world are Phil and D'Anphony even close if you have to pick between them.

I can see it possible. Phil's last stint didn't end up well. Pringles knows Steve, knows Dwight and Kobe. Showtime...

I would think the prerequisite for the next coaching gig is higher than "must know some players". D'Antoni is not the answer. People have been bagging on him for years now and we don't really have the team for that.

On Mike Brown firing, Nuggets coach George Karl said “it’s drastic and dramatic”

George Karl is fiercely loyal to the coaching fraternity. And he’s fiercely opinionated when it comes to a coach being fired, in his eyes, prematurely. So here were Karl’s words Friday night about the Lakers’ firing of Mike Brown after a 1-4 start:

“It’s a bad day for basketball, it’s a sad day for coaching, I think it’s a disappointing day and disrespectful day for the situation. I don’t even know how to phrase it. I talked to 3-4 coaches. There’s just disillusionment about the whole thing. How can this happen? Why did it happen? It’s drastic and dramatic, and I’m sure we haven’t heard the last of it.”

Bigger chance of failure....Phil or Pringles....

More confidence in after one failure in Brown.....Phil or Pringles....

Win now, need a ring now.....Phil or Pringles....

Bigger chance of success.....Phil or Pringles....

The FO HAS to get this right this time because there is no room for error now.

Well, I for one don't think anything Pop or Karl have said is wrong. It is drastic and dramatic, but desperate times call for drastic measures.

We're not just playing for a championship this year. We're playing to keep Dwight Howard which is arguably more important.

Sounds like Karl's the one being dramatic here. This wasn't a firing based on 5 games, all day long we've heard tons of bigger reasons for this. We heard the Lakers even considered looking at Nate McMillan this offseason, we heard this might have been in the works for 2 to 3 weeks, and it's been pointed out that we aren't really 1-4, we're actually 1-14 in our last 15 games taking into account the last 2 playoff losses and the 8 preseason games. Yes, preseason doesn't count, but ONE win in the last 15 games, Mike had to go.
