On Mike Brown firing, Nuggets coach George Karl said “it’s drastic and dramatic”

George Karl is fiercely loyal to the coaching fraternity. And he’s fiercely opinionated when it comes to a coach being fired, in his eyes, prematurely. So here were Karl’s words Friday night about the Lakers’ firing of Mike Brown after a 1-4 start:

“It’s a bad day for basketball, it’s a sad day for coaching, I think it’s a disappointing day and disrespectful day for the situation. I don’t even know how to phrase it. I talked to 3-4 coaches. There’s just disillusionment about the whole thing. How can this happen? Why did it happen? It’s drastic and dramatic, and I’m sure we haven’t heard the last of it.”

Sounds like Karl's the one being dramatic here. This wasn't a firing based on 5 games, all day long we've heard tons of bigger reasons for this. We heard the Lakers even considered looking at Nate McMillan this offseason, we heard this might have been in the works for 2 to 3 weeks, and it's been pointed out that we aren't really 1-4, we're actually 1-14 in our last 15 games taking into account the last 2 playoff losses and the 8 preseason games. Yes, preseason doesn't count, but ONE win in the last 15 games, Mike had to go.
