** CL's Old and New School Challenge ** (15 GM's Needed)

Not only that KB8, but it won't just be Hakeem and one guy, it will be Hakeem and TWO guys.

The end result is one team looks like:
Hakeem, Penny, Rodman

the other looks like:
Dumars, Worthy, DeBusschere

Right now we are leaning towards the banzai draft system.

The first round goes 1-24, then the 24th GM gets the first pick in the next three rounds, and then it goes snake after the 1st GM makes their first pick in the fifth round.

^Sounds better than my idea. I think thats as fair as its gonna get. Also, I'm gonna throw another suggestion out there. I don't think we should draft anyone who stopped playing before 1975. I'm just throwing this out there because I think it'll force people to do a little more research + thats right around the time when the league started keeping stats on things such as blocked shots.

I'm thinking of starting at 73-74.

There are too little centers in this game. People who get Shaq or Hakeem are just going to be so much better than others it won't be fair.

Thats what it was. I was thinking 74-75 was the season. BTW, does anyone have a site that shows all NBA players with their year drafted? I can't seem to find one.

I thought we were going to have 20 GMs? With only being able to draft 3 players who aren't currently in the league, I would think 20 would be perfect.

Changing to 24 teams with 12 players per team.

More GM's, more trade possibilities, ect.

L4L and myself are attempting to find a way to better the game. The lack of dominant centers within the current rules is a concern.

Players must have played during or after the '79-'80 season to be eligible for the draft. The main idea behind this reasoning had to do with eliminating the silly era debates over stat inflation, athleticism, and the level of competition that may have, or may not have, led to certain achievements or success. In addition, by '79-'80, the NBA had begun keeping track of four key statistics: pace, three point percentage, blocks, and turnovers. There should be no statistical questions that cannot be easily answered. Finally, this rule was enacted to prevent Wilt Chamberlain, and other centers, from taking over the game; teams shouldn't be eliminated from the competition because they didn't land in the top ten picks or so. As such, it only makes sense that if you pick Kareem, you get Abdul-Jabbar's best playing during the 80s rather than his overall prime as a player. If you land Shaq in the draft, and you plan to use Mitch's Magic Wand on O'Neal, be aware that you will get Shaq during his Orlando prime rather than his best, unstoppable stint in L.A. All other eligible players who are taken are assumed to be in their basketball primes.

I'm a bit confused here. A player's prime is a bit different for every player. Are we giving a given age for a players prime? Generally, is that assumed to be from about 27-32? I'd appreciate if someone would clarify a bit more.

age doesn't matter. a player's prime is when he's at his best.
